  1. 1. Genes for cytochrome c and cytochrome c oxidase synthesis in Bacillus subtilis

    University dissertation from Department of Microbiology, Lund University

    Author : Jenny Bengtsson; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2001]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microbiology; cytochrome; cytochrome c oxidase; Bacillus subtilis; cytochrome c synthesis; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi;

    Abstract : Cytochromes are heme-containing proteins that function in electron transfer reactions, e.g. respiration and photosynthesis. There are several different types of cytochromes. READ MORE

  2. 2. Modulators of Saccharomyces cerevisiae cytochrome c oxidase Implications for the regulation of mitochondrial respiration

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics, Stockholm University

    Author : Camilla Rydström Lundin; Stockholms universitet.; [2018]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cytochrome c oxidase; cytochrome c; OXPHOS; membrane protein; kinetics; ligand-binding; electron transfer; Rcf1; respiratory supercomplexes; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : Oxidative phosphorylation in mitochondria is performed by enzyme complexes and electron carriers that reside in the inner membrane. It is now generally accepted that these respiratory enzyme complexes assemble into larger so-called supercomplexes. However, it is presently not known why, under which conditions or how these supercomplexes form. READ MORE

  3. 3. Theoretical Studies of Cytochrome P450

    University dissertation from Department of Theoretical Chemistry, Lund University

    Author : Patrik Rydberg; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2007]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum chemistry; Proteins; enzymology; Proteiner; enzymologi; Theoretical chemistry; transition-state force field; peroxidase; theoretical chemistry; molecular dynamics; density functional theory; cytochrome P450; porphyrin; haem; heme; kvantkemi; Teoretisk kemi;

    Abstract : The cytochromes P450 are a large enzyme family that is found in all living organisms and takes part in both endogenous and exogenous metabolism. They are primarily mono-oxygenases and perform a wide range of reactions. READ MORE

    Abstract : The ß-carbolines norharman and harman structurally resemble the synthetic compound 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) that is known for its ability to damage neuromelanin-containing dopaminergic neurons of the substantia nigra and thereby induce parkinsonism. MPTP is, however, not normally present in the environment whereas the ß-carbolines are present in cooked food and tobacco smoke. READ MORE
