21. Bacterial cytochromes P450-Studies on Cytochrome P450 102A2 and P450 102A3 of Bacillus subtilis
Abstract : Cytochromes P450 constitute a super-family of heme containing mixed function mono-oxygenases that is found in all branches of life. They introduce single oxygen atoms, mostly in the form of hydroxyl groups, into lipophilic substances and thereby render them more hydrophilic and susceptible to further reactions. READ MORE

22. Cytochrome P-450 in Drosophila melanogaster : activity, genetic variation and regulation
Abstract : The cytochrome P-450 enzyme system in the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster, was shown to be inducible, to consist of several isozymes and to have the capacity to metabolize a variety of substrates, thus resembling the corresponding mammalian system. These similarities strengthens the value of Drosophila test systems for the detection of indirect carcinogens and mutagens. READ MORE

23. Studies on Haemproteins of Gram-positive Bacteria - Implications as Antibacterial Drug Targets
Abstract : With the discovery of antibiotics, several diseases that were previously lethal is today readily cured, or so we thought. Some degree of resistance to one or several antibiotics can be found among many strains of clinical important bacteria. READ MORE

24. Wiring Components of the Respiratory Chain : Modulation of the Respiratory Chain in Yeast and Bacteria
Abstract : The enzyme complexes of the respiratory chain are organized in supramolecular assemblies, so-called respiratory supercomplexes. In the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, these supercomplexes consist of two copies of complex III (bc1 complex) and one or two copies of complex IV (cytochrome c oxidase, CytcO). READ MORE

25. Proton transfer across and along biological membranes
Abstract : Proton-transfer reactions belong to the most prevalent reactions in the biosphere and make life on Earth possible, as they are central to energy conversion. In most known organisms, protons are translocated from one side of a membrane to the other, which generates an electrochemical gradient that drives ATP synthesis. READ MORE
