21. Microbial Fuel cells, applications and biofilm characterization
Abstract : Since the 1900’s it has been known that microorganisms are capable of generating electrical power through extracellular electron transfer by converting the energy found organic compounds (Potter, 1911). Microbial fuel cells (MFCs) has garnered more attention recently, and have shown promise in several applications, including wastewater treatment (Yakar et al. READ MORE

22. Sound, Light and Electricity : as applications and analysis techniques to study metabolic effect and biofilm characterization of Geobacter sulfurreducens
Abstract : ElectricityBio-electrochemical systems such as microbial fuel cells (MFCs) and microbial electrolysis cells have shown promise in wastewater treatment, bioremediation, desalination, carbon sequestration and as an alternative, renewable energy source. MFCs produces electricity via anaerobic oxidation of substrates with the subsequent extracellular electron transfer to an electrode. READ MORE

23. Heme A synthase from Bacillus subtilis and Aeropyrum pernix
Abstract : Respiration in animals, plants and many bacteria is dependent on heme A, which functions as a prosthetic group in a-type cytochromes (terminal energy-transducing oxidases in the electron transport chain that reduce molecular oxygen to water). Heme A synthase catalyses a chemically very demanding reaction, the conversion of one specific methyl side-group of heme O to a formyl group of heme A. READ MORE

24. Theoretical Studies of Cytochrome P450
Abstract : The cytochromes P450 are a large enzyme family that is found in all living organisms and takes part in both endogenous and exogenous metabolism. They are primarily mono-oxygenases and perform a wide range of reactions. READ MORE

25. Cytochrome P450 enzymes in the biosynthesis and metabolism of bile acids and active forms of vitamin D
Abstract : Cytochrome P450 enzymes catalyzing hydroxylations in the biosynthesis and metabolism of bile acids and active forms of vitamin D3 were studied.A microsomal cytochrome P450 enzyme with a molecular mass of 53 kDa, catalyzing the 6α-hydroxylation of taurochenodeoxycholic acid was purfied from pig liver microsomes and characterized with respect to catalytic and electrophoretic properties as well as polyclonal antibodies.
