  1. 21. Organization of centromere associated DNA in Chironomus pallidivittatus

    Author : Hong He; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Genetics; Chironomus.; pericentric DNA; repetitive DNA; centromere; transposable element; cytogenetics; Genetik; cytogenetik;

    Abstract : Centromeres have not yet been functionally defined in higher eu- karyotes, largely due to the huge amounts of repeated DNA in these regions of most species and difficulties of delimiting centromeric from pericentric regions. Also the latter have large quantities of mostly noncoding DNA, expressed cytologically as pericentric heterochromatin. READ MORE

  2. 22. Avian Malaria and Related Blood Parasites: Molecular Diversity, Ecology and Evolution

    Author : Olof Hellgren; MEMEG; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; diversity; Plasmodium; bird-migration; transmission; blackfly; host-specificity; host-preference; cytochrome b; DHFR-TS; recombination; phylogeny; Ecology; Ekologi; Genetics; cytogenetics; Genetik; cytogenetik; Parasitology human and animal ; Haemoproteus; Leucocytozoon; Parasitologi människa och djur ; Animal ecology; Djurekologi; Natural science; Naturvetenskap;

    Abstract : Malaria-like parasites consist of a large group of species that infects primates, rodents, bats, lizard and birds. I have focused on parasites from the genera Haemoproteus, Plasmodium and Leucocytozoon that are infecting birds. READ MORE

  3. 23. Regulation of Drosophila Jun by phosphorylation and the ubiquitin system during eye development

    Author : Anders Isaksson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Genetics; eye development; ubiquitin; D-Jun; phosphorylation; cytogenetics; Genetik; cytogenetik;

    Abstract : The goal of these studies has been to elucidate the biological relevance of post-translational modifications in the context of a living organism. The model system used is photoreceptor differentiation during development of the compound eye in the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster. READ MORE

  4. 24. Genome Divergence in Progress - a population genetic analysis of the allopolyploid Arabidopsis suecica and its maternal parent A. thaliana

    Author : Mattias Jakobsson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cytogenetik; Genetik; cytogenetics; Genetics; sequence polymorphism; microsatellites; population structure; polyploidy; single origin; Arabidopsis thaliana; Arabidopsis suecica; genome evolution; evolutionary history; Plant genetics; Växtgenetik;

    Abstract : The evolutionary history of the allotetraploid Arabidopsis suecica and its maternal parent Arabidopsis thaliana is analyzed in the thesis in terms of genetic variation in the natural populations of the two species. The earliest phase of the speciation event in which the genomes of A. thaliana and A. READ MORE

  5. 25. Aggressive lymphoma

    Author : Mats Jerkeman; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cytology; BCL6 rearr; 1q21-23; cytogenetics; histopathology; P-glycoprotein; p53; BCL2; Ki-67; immunohistochemistry; proliferation; dose intensity; health-related quality of life; International Prognostic Index; prognostic factors; aggressive lymphoma; chemotherapy; patologisk anatomi; Patologi allmän ; pathological anatomy; General pathology; cancer; onkologi; Cytologi; cancerology; oncology;

    Abstract : Aggressive lymphoma is a rapidly growing tumour of lymphocyte origin, potentially curable with chemotherapy. In a trial by the Nordic Lymphoma Group, 405 patients with aggressive lymphoma were included, and randomised to receive either the standard chemotherapy regimen, CHOP, or a weekly multidrug regimen, MACOP-B.
