7. Cancer proteomics : characterisation of protein expression in human epithelial tumours
Abstract : Defining differences in protein expression between tumour cells of various degrees of malignancy is a first step in the development of markers for tumour diagnosis. In this thesis, the expression of multiple proteins in benign and malignant human ovarian, breast and prostate tumours was examined using two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE). READ MORE

8. Cytogenetic studies of normal kidney tissue and renal cell carcinoma
Abstract : In the present thesis normal kidney tissue and renal cell carcinoma (RCC) were studied by cytogenetic and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) methods to investigate chromosomal aberrations. In the first study, 4 samples of nonneoplastic kidney tissue were cultured for cytogenetic analysis and trisomy 7 was found in all cases in 3-15% of the cells. READ MORE

9. Functional mapping and in vivo metabolism of the monoclonal antibody TS1 and its single-chain fragment : Its interaction with the antigen and the anti-idiotype
Abstract : Antibodies are proteins capable of specific interactions to a wide range of molecules. These interactions are facilitated by the complementary determining regions (CDR).Carcinomas are the most common of human cancers and they release significant amount of cytokeratins (CK) in the necrotic areas of the tumors.
