6. Antiparasitic metabolites from plants used in the Tacana Bolivian native tribe : Traditional medicine, an overview of natural products with medicinal interest
Abstract : The thesis aims to contribute to the preservation of traditional medicinal knowledge of the Tacana Bolivian native tribe, as well as to the isolation and characterization of antiparasitic metabolites from plants used for the treatment of endemic diseases. A selection of medicinal plants, made in collaboration with the Tacana communities who decided which plants have a specific medicinal propose, were collected and identified by the national herbarium of Bolivia, and confirmed by healers from the most representative communities. 7. Functional studies of calcein acetoxymethyl ester in human tumor cells
Abstract : A fluorometric assay for functional measurement of P-glycoprotein 170 (Pgp) mediated transport in cell lines, using the acetoxymethyl ester of calcein (calcein/AM) as a probe was established. The myeloma cell line RPMI 8226/S and the two Pgp-expressing doxorubicin resistant subcell lines 8226/dox6 (low) and 8226/dox40 (high) were used. READ MORE
