  1. 21. Eliciting Knowledge from Experts in Modeling of Complex Systems : Managing Variation and Interactions

    Author : Per Wikberg; Bo Strangert; Erland Svensson; Berndt Brehmer; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Modeling; Experts; Communication; Qualitative Data; Roles; Cognitive science; Kognitionsvetenskap;

    Abstract : The thematic core of the thesis is about how to manage modeling procedures in real settings. The view taken in this thesis is that modeling is a heuristic tool to outline a problem, often conducted in a context of a larger development process. READ MORE

  2. 22. Big Data Analytics for eMaintenance : Modeling of high-dimensional data streams

    Author : Liangwei Zhang; Wolfgang Birk; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Drift och underhållsteknik; Operation and Maintenance Engineering;

    Abstract : Big Data analytics has attracted intense interest from both academia and industry recently for its attempt to extract information, knowledge and wisdom from Big Data. In industry, with the development of sensor technology and Information & Communication Technologies (ICT), reams of high-dimensional data streams are being collected and curated by enterprises to support their decision-making. 3. 23. Data driven crop disease modeling

    Author : Priyamvada Shankar; Marcus Liwicki; Foteini Liwicki; Lili Jiang; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Crop Disease Prediction; Precision Agriculture; Digital Farming; Artificial Intelligence; Machine learning; Maskininlärning; Machine Learning;

    Abstract : The concept of precision farming deals with the creation and use of data from machinery and sensors on and off the field to optimize resources and sustainably intensify food production to keep up with increasing demand. However, in the face of a growing amount of data being collected, smarter data processing and analysis techniques are needed and have prompted the evaluation and incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques for multiple use cases right from seeding to harvesting. 4. 24. Modeling and optimization of least-cost corridors

    Author : Lindsi Seegmiller; Takeshi Shirabe; Kai-Florian Richter; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; raster data modeling; raster-based geographic information systems; route planning; optimal routing; corridor; wide path; corridor width; distortion; three-dimensional grid; rasterdatamodellering; rasterbaserade geografiska informationssystem; ruttplanering; optimal dirigering; korridor; bred väg; korridorbredd; distorsion; tredimensionellt rutnät; Geoinformatics; Geoinformatik;

    Abstract : Given a grid of cells, each having a value indicating its cost per unit area, a variant of the least-cost path problem is to find a corridor of a specified width connecting two termini such that its cost-weighted area is minimized. A computationally efficient method exists for finding such corridors, but as is the case with conventional raster-based least-cost paths, their incremental orientations are limited to a fixed number of (typically eight orthogonal and diagonal) directions, and therefore, regardless of the grid resolution, they tend to deviate from those conceivable on the Euclidean plane. 5. 25. Configuration Design of a High Performance and Responsive Manufacturing System : Modeling and Evaluation

    Author : Daniel Tesfamariam Semere; Bengt Lindberg; Bolmsjö Gunnar; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Configuration; Modeling; Evaluation; Manufacturing engineering; Produktionsteknik;

    Abstract : Configuring and reconfiguring a manufacturing system is presented as an issue with increasing importance due to higher frequency of system configuration or major reconfigurations to accommodate new set of requirements and/or the need to configure the system to make it usable across generations of products or product families. This research has focused in the modeling, evaluation and selection decisions which involves multiple, incommensurate and conflicting objectives. READ MORE
