1. Preparation and Characterization of Electrochemical Devices for Energy Storage and Debonding
Abstract : Within the framework of this thesis, three innovative electrochemical devices have been studied. A part of the work is devoted to an already existing device, laminates which are debonded by the application of a voltage. READ MORE

2. Influence of microstructure on debonding at the fiber/matrix interface in fiber-reinforced polymers under tensile loading
Abstract : At the end of the second decade of the XXI century, the transportation industry at large faces several challenges that will shape its evolution in the next decade and beyond. The first such challenge is the increasing public awareness and governmental action on climate change, which are increasing the pressure on the industrial sectors responsible for the greatest share of emissions, the transportation industry being one of them, to reduce their environmental footprint. 3. Electrically Induced Debonding of Adhesives
Abstract : Electrically induced adhesive debonding is a process where an adhesive can be debonded at command with help of an applied voltage. To make this process function, the adhesive is bonded between two metal substrates. In this study an epoxy adhesive is adhered between two aluminium foils forming a laminate structure. READ MORE

4. Strengthening reinforced concrete structures with FRP composites
Abstract : Civil infrastructures made of reinforced concrete (RC) play an important role in the economic activities and services of society. However, signs of deterioration and functional deficiency are commonly found in existing RC structures. Thus, there is a great demand for upgrading the capacity and performance of existing concrete structures. READ MORE

5. Flexural Strengthening of Reinforced Concrete Beams Using Externally Bonded CFRP--An Innovative Method for the Application of Prestressed CFRP Laminates
Abstract : A large number of existing bridges in European countries are structurally deficient and functionally obsolete due to the deterioration of aging bridges and the lack of structural and geometric capacity to accommodate the increasing traffic volume and load levels. To meet the demand for holistic and effective strengthening techniques the SUREBRIDGE solution is proposed for the refurbishment of concrete bridges, which includes the technique of using prestressed carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) laminate as externally bonded reinforcement for flexural strengthening.
