  2. 2. Mechanistic-Empirical Modelling of Flexible Pavement Performance : Verifications Using APT Measurements

    Author : Abubeker W. Ahmed; Sigurdur Erlingsson; Hervè Di Benedetto; Statens väg- och transportforskningsinstitut; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Performance; Deformation; Model not math ; Rutting wheel ; Viscoelasticity; Elasticity; Axle load; Flexible pavement; Laboratory not an organization ; Test; Thesis; Heavy vehicle simulator; Wheel tracking test; 32 Road: Pavement design; 32 Road: Pavement design; Transportvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Abstract : Mechanistic-Empirical  (M-E)  pavement  design  procedures  are  composed  of  a  reliable  response model to estimate the state of stress in the pavement and distress models in order to predict the different types of pavement distresses due to the prevailing traffic and environmental conditions. One of the main objectives of this study was to develop a response model based on multilayer elastic  theory   (MLET)  with  improved  computational  performance  by   optimizing  the   time consuming parts of the MLET processes. 3. 3. Multidimensional MRI  of Myocardial Dynamics : Acquisition, Reconstruction and Visualization

    Author : Andreas Sigfridsson; Hans Knutsson; Sebastian Kozerke; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MRI; Cardiac motion; myocardial dynamics; strain; tensor; deformation; DENSE; k-t BLAST; Medical engineering; Medicinsk teknik;

    Abstract : Methods for measuring deformation and motion of the human heart in-vivo are crucial in the assessment of cardiac function. Applications ranging from basic physiological research, through early detection of disease to follow-up studies, all rely on the quality of the measurements of heart dynamics. READ MORE

  4. 4. Generalised stacking fault energy and plastic deformation of austenitic stainless steels

    Author : Dávid Sándor Molnár; Levente Vitos; Guocai Chai; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; stacking fault energy; stainless steel; plasticity; deformation; ab initio; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering; Steel Forming and Surface Engineering;

    Abstract : Austenitic stainless steels are primarily known for their exceptional corrosion resistance. They have the face centred cubic (FCC) structure which is stabilised by adding nickel to the Fe-Cr alloy. The Fe-Cr-Ni system can be further extended by adding other elements such as Mn, Mo, N, C, etc. in order to improve the properties. READ MORE

  5. 5. Influences of the Graphite Phase on Elastic and Plastic Deformation Behaviour of Cast Irons

    Author : Torsten Sjögren; Ingvar L. Svensson; Sten Johansson; Jorge Sikora; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cast iron; Flake graphite; Compacted graphite; Spheroidal graphite; Elastic deformation; Plastic deformation; Modulus of elasticity; Graphite modulus of elasticity; Strength coefficient; Strain hardening exponent; Acoustic emission; Construction materials; Konstruktionsmaterial;

    Abstract : The amount and morphology of the graphite phase largely controls the resulting properties of cast iron. For instance, in flake graphite cast irons the mechanical properties are low while the thermal conductivity is high. READ MORE
