  1. 1. A theory of bond applied to overlapped tensile reinforcement splices for deformed bars

    Author : Ralejs Tepfers; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Concrete; splitting failures; confinement; deformed bars; tensile overlap splices; bond theory; fatigue; concrete cover splitting; reinforcement;

    Abstract : A bond theory for deformed reinforcing bars in concrete is elaborated taking into account different stages in development of final rupture occurring as splitting or pull-out. The concrete cover splitting resistance is modelled for a thick-walled concrete ring in elastic and plastic stages. Different final possible failure modes are analysed. READ MORE

  4. 4. Anchorage of naturally-corroded, plain bars in Reinforced Concrete structures

    Author : Samanta Robuschi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; bond; corrosion; concrete; anchorage; plain reinforcement bars;

    Abstract : Reinforced Concrete (RC) is the most common construction material in existing structures. However, RC structures are susceptible to deterioration over time, with corrosion of the reinforcing steel as most common mechanism. Corrosion reduces strength and ductility provided by the reinforcement bars and affects their interaction with the concrete. READ MORE

  5. 5. Modeling and experimental characterization of large biaxial strains and induced anisotropy in pearlitic rail steel

    Author : Knut Andreas Meyer; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Pearlitic steel; yield criteria; distortional hardening; axial-torsion; kinematic hardening; biaxial loading; hyperelasto-plasticity;

    Abstract : Large shear strains accumulate in the near-surface region under the running band of railway rails. In this region, rolling contact fatigue cracks often initiate, causing major problems for the railway industry. READ MORE
