  1. 1. Mechanisms triggering the recruitment of mast cell progenitors to the lung and regulation of mast cell degranulation

    Author : Behdad Zarnegar; Jenny Hallgren; Madeleine Rådinger; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mast cells; Mast cell progenitors; Recruitment; Lung; Virus; Influenza; Innate immunity; Poly I:C; IL-33; VAAT; SLC10A4; Degranulation;

    Abstract : Mast cells stem from the bone marrow and migrate via the blood as mast cell progenitors. Upon arrival in peripheral tissues, they develop into mast cells. These rare immune cells have numerous granules that contain large amounts of pro-inflammatory mediators. READ MORE

  2. 2. NO Effect on Inflammatory Reaction in Extracorporeal Circulation : Ex vivo Studies

    Author : Mika Lahtinen; Jan Borowiec; Per Venge; Vibeke Videm; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; Cardiac surgery; extracorporeal circulation; inflammatory reaction; NO; degranulation; neutrophil; eosinophil; basophil; complement; contact system; coagulation; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin; Clinical Chemistry; klinisk kemi;

    Abstract : Nitric oxide (NO) is expressed in inflammatory tissues. However, NO effects are controversial in inflammation; NO is described as acting in a dose dependent manner and possess both pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory properties. READ MORE

  3. 3. Assessment of eosinophil degranulation in allergic diseases and experimental models

    Author : Monika Malm-Erjefält; Avdelningen för klinisk kemi och farmakologi; []

    Abstract : In allergic disorders, the eosinophilic granulocytes migrate to affected tissues and release granule proteins with cytotoxic, immunoregulatory, and remodeling-promoting properties. Given that degranulation is reflected by a loss in eosinophil granule density of living cells, or by cell membrane rupture and release of intact granules, these morphological changes may represent a biomarker of the allergic disease. 4. 4. Human eosinophils and their activation by allergens via danger signal receptors

    Author : Elin Redvall; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : human eosinophils; danger signals; allergen; formyl peptide receptors; CCR3; chemotaxis; degranulation; free oxygen radicals; receptor desensitization;

    Abstract : Human eosinophilic granulocytes are polymorphonuclear cells with a powerful arsenal of cytotoxic substances in their granules, which are mainly found in the gastrointestinal mucosa, and the respiratory and genitourinary tracts. Their physiological role is incompletely understood, although it is likely they protect the mucosal surfaces, perhaps by recognizing danger signals present on microorganisms or released from damaged tissue. 5. 5. A novel principle for immunomodulator delivery with hematopoietic cells as vehicles Focus on soluble TNF-receptor gene expression, targeting to secretory lysosomes and regulated secretion

    Author : Ying Gao; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; extracellulära vätskor; extracellular fluids; Hematologi; Medicin människa och djur ; Haematology; Medicine human and vertebrates ; neutrophil; granule; secretory lysosome; sorting; phagocytosis; degranulation.; mast cell; hematopoietic cell; inflammation; soluble TNF receptor;

    Abstract : The goal of this research is to use hematopoietic cells as vehicles for targeting transgenic immunomodulators to the inflammatory sites. The work presented was focused on the anti-inflammatory soluble TNF receptor. A transmembrane soluble TNF receptor (sTNFR1) construct was expressed in hematopoietic cell lines. READ MORE
