  1. 1. Delta++ Resonance Measurements in a High Multiplicity Environment

    University dissertation from Department of Physics, Lund University

    Author : Karim El Chenawi; [1999]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; electronic; pad readout; VLSI; ASIC; chip-on-board; multi-step avalanche chamber; MSAC; tracking; position resolution; efficiency; delta resonance; heavy-ion collisions; freeze-out temperature; High energy interactions; cosmic rays; Kosmisk strålning; högenergi; Fysicumarkivet A:1999:El Chenawi;

    Abstract : The very large multiplicity of charged particles encountered in lead on lead collisions in the WA98 experiment at the CERN SPS provided new experimental challenges. Tracking detectors read out with high granularity were developed to achieve accurate position information in two dimensions, with the aim of reconstructing tracks with a minimum of combinatorial difficulties. 2. 2. Magnetizing Currents in Power Transformers Measurements, Simulations, and Diagnostic Methods

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Claes Carrander; KTH.; [2017]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Transformer core; diagnostics; three-phase; no-load; hysteresis; modeling; resonance; remanence; delta; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis demonstrates a method for transformer core diagnostics. The method uses the no-load current of the transformer as an indicator, and gives different characteristic signatures for different types of faults or defects. Using the no-load current for the diagnostic gives high sensitivity. READ MORE

  4. 4. Aspects of Hadron Production in High-Energy Heavy-Ion Physics

    University dissertation from Department of Physics, Lund University

    Author : David Silvermyr; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2001]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; RHIC; pad readout; electronic; chip-on-board; tracking; heavy-ion collisions; freeze-out temperature; delta resonance; SPS; WA98; PHENIX; Fysik; coherent peripheral; multiplicity; Physics; Fysicumarkivet A:2001:Silvermyr;

    Abstract : High-energy heavy-ion collisions provide a unique tool for the study of nuclear matter as a function of temperature and density. WA98 at the CERN SPS recorded data with a 158 A GeV Pb beam on a Pb target in 1996. To cope with the high charged-particle density, a tracking system based on high granularity multi-step avalanche detectors was developed. READ MORE

  5. 5. Electron-Phonon Interactions in Transition Metal Oxides Studied by Resonance Raman Scattering

    University dissertation from Department of Physics, Lund University

    Author : Jakob Andreasson; [2008]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Franck-Condon; Fr ohlich interaction; higher order scattering; perovskite; transition metal oxide; two-phonon; oxygen breathing mode; Raman spectroscopy;

    Abstract : In this thesis, studies of strong electron-phonon interactions in a number of transition metal oxides are presented. Two different electron-phonon interaction mechanisms are identified; Franck-Condon scattering and infrared active longitudinal optical (IR LO) two-phonon activation. READ MORE
