  1. 16. An Atom-Probe Tomography Study of Phase Separation in Fe-Cr Based Steels

    Author : Jing Zhou; John Ågren; Peter Hedström; Hänninen Hannu; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fe-Cr alloys; Ferritic stainless steels; Spinodal decomposition; Phase separation; Atom probe tomography; Radial distribution function RDF ; Materials Science and Engineering; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Stainless steels are very important engineering materials in a variety of applications such as in the food industry and nuclear power plants due to their combination of good mechanical properties and high corrosion resistance. However, ferrite-containing stainless steels are sensitive to the so-called ‘475°C embrittlement’, which is induced by phase separation of the ferrite phase, where it decomposes into Fe-rich ferrite (α) and Cr-rich ferrite (α'). 2. 17. A study of solid and liquid inclusion separation at the steel-slag interface

    Author : Jenny Strandh; Pär Jönsson; Robert Eriksson; Keiji Nakajima; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; mathematical modeling; inclusion separation; tundish; ladle; slag; steel-slag interface; physical properties; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : This thesis work aimed to provide a better knowledge of inclusion behavior at the steel-slag interface. All results are based on mathematical modeling of liquid and solid inclusion separation to the slag. The model descriptions of the inclusion transfer are based on the equation of motion at the system. READ MORE

  3. 18. Fluctuating superconductivity and pair-density wave order in the cuprate superconductors

    Author : Jonatan Wårdh; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cuprates; fluctuating superconductivity; pair-density wave; Ginzburg-Landau theory; vestigial order; nematicity; paraconductivity;

    Abstract : High-temperature superconductors are some of nature’s most enigmatic materials. Besides carrying a supercurrent, these materials manifest a range of electronic and structural orders. READ MORE

  4. 19. Van der Waals density-functional description of polymers and other sparse materials

    Author : Jesper Kleis; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; softmatter; Density functional theory; polyethylene; van der Waals interaction; polymer crystal; nanotubes; DFT; sparse material systems; polymer interactions; polymer structure;

    Abstract : Polymers are abundant in nature --- rubber, tar and latex have been known to mankind for thousands of years. Early in the 20th century, a systematic synthesis of polymers was developed, but the great potential of synthesized polymers was recognized first during World War II. READ MORE

  5. 20. Label-free processing of stem cell preparations by acoustophoresis

    Author : Franziska Olm; Avdelningen för molekylär hematologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; acoustophoresis; label-free cell separation; ultrasound; microfluidics; stem cell processing; CTC separation;

    Abstract : The first bone marrow transplant in a human was performed in 1959, providing evidence that cells can be used for transplantation and treatment, revealing that healing capacities lie within the human body that ought to be understood. Since then hematopoietic stem cell transplantation has developed as a standard treatment for many cancers besides other malignancies. READ MORE
