  2. 2. On cobalt-chrome frameworks in implant dentistry

    University dissertation from Malmö University, Department of Prosthetic dentistry

    Author : Lars Hjalmarsson; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2009]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cobalt-chrome; titanium; implants; misfit; corrosion; viability; abutment-free;

    Abstract : Background: Cobalt-chrome (CoCr) alloys have been used in dentistry in decades but very little is known about their behavior and biological impact as framework materials in implant dentistry. Furthermore, few studies have evaluated and compared the clinical and radiological results of abutment and abutment-free implant treatment concepts. READ MORE

  3. 3. On platelet-rich plasma in reconstructive dental implant surgery

    University dissertation from Malmö University, Department of Prosthetic dentistry

    Author : Andreas Thor; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2006]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; autogenous bone graft; bone formation; coagulation; clinical study; complement; dental implant; experimental study; growth factors; platelet activation; platelet-rich plasma; sinus lift surgery; thrombogenicity;

    Abstract : Abstract Background Severe athrophy of the edentulous maxilla may require augmentation before implants can be placed. Autogenous bone has been used for reconstruction in block or in particulated form. READ MORE

  4. 4. In vivo and in vitro studies of polyetheretherketone: bone formation, inflammatory response and biofilm formation

    University dissertation from Göteborgs universitet

    Abstract : In prosthetic dentistry, restorative materials are used to replace missing teeth and tissues, so as to maintain oral functionalities and comfort for the patient. Depending on the clinical problem, metals, ceramics or polymers, are used both in dentistry and orthopedics. READ MORE

  5. 5. Characterising Dental Implant Surfaces by Topographical, Electrochemical, and Biomechanical Methods

    University dissertation from Göteborg : Chalmers University of Technology

    Author : Johanna Löberg; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2009]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Titanium dental implants; 3D-SEM; AFM; Mott-Schottky analysis; surface roughness parameters; biomechanics.;

    Abstract : Replacement of extracted teeth by dental implants was first introduced in the 1950’s. From the beginning, threaded titanium implants with smooth surfaces were used. Later on, screw shaped implants with micro-scaled roughened surfaces were introduced showing bone ingrowth and improved in vivo and in vitro results and good long term stability. READ MORE
