  1. 16. On loading protocols and abutment use in implant dentistry. Clinical studies

    Author : Catharina Göthberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; abutment design; clinical studies; dental implants; dental prosthesis; implant-supported; gene expression; health; immediate implant loading; marginal bone loss; osseointegration; prosthodontics; risk factors; smoking; treatment outcome;

    Abstract : ABSTRACT Research questions: The influence of immediate or delayed loading and the use of abutments in implant dentistry with regard to peri-implant tissues and the effect of risk parameters. Methodology: Fifty partially edentulous patients each received three Brånemark TiUnite™ implants. READ MORE

  2. 17. Masticatory function in people with dental implants

    Author : Anastasios Grigoriadis; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : In use, since the 1960´s, dental implants have been reported to allow chewing that is as efficient as with natural dentition. However, input from periodontal mechanoreceptors (PMRs) around the tooth is important for sensorimotor regulation of biting and chewing. READ MORE

  3. 18. On biological response and wear particles around oral implants and implant components

    Author : Julia Olander; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Dental implants; Abutments; Ceramics; Titanium; Wear particles;

    Abstract : ABSTRACT Wear particles released from implant components are gaining interest in the dental literature. In orthopedic medicine, wear particles are known to cause bone loss around medical implants in an aseptic manner and several in vitro studies have shown proinflammatory responses to titanium particles. 4. 19. Healing of endosseous implants with different surface characteristics in grafted and non-grafted bone : clinical and experimental studies

    Author : Måns Jungner; Stefan Lundgren; Malou Hultcrantz; Carina Lundqvist; Peter Nilsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Dental implants; surface characteristics; bone graft; maxillary sinus; implant survival; oxidized surface; turned surface; sinus membrane elevation; bone formation; macrophages; osteocalcin; osteopontin; CD68; odontologi; Odontology;

    Abstract : Aims: This study uses radiological and clinical evaluations of the healing of endosseous titanium implants presented with different surface characteristics in the clinical situation (paper I-III) and experimentally to describe the early bone healing in maxillary sinus membrane elevation with and without the use of grafting material (paper IV).Material and methods: In paper I, 136 patients were treated with 394 dental implants – 199 were oxidized titanium implants (Nobel Biocare TiUnite) and 195 were turned titanium surface implants (Nobel Biocare Mark III). 5. 20. On the influence of micro-and macroscopic surface modifications on bone integration of titanium implants

    Author : Patricia Miranda Burgos; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : titanium; dental implants; surface modification; bone tissue; biomechanics; BMP-2;

    Abstract : Background: Osseointegrated titanium implants are routinely used in clinical denstistry as anchorage units for dental prostheses. Although the overall clinical results are good, there are clinical situations when an optimized implant healing is desirable, for instance in order to shorten healing periods and to allow immediate loading.
