  1. 1. Computational studies of core level XPS satellites in transition metal systems : Department of Quantum Chemistry, Uppsala University

    Author : Johnny Bustad; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; adsorbates; shake-up; surface science; XPS; XES; INDO; model systems; Chemical physics; Kemisk fysik;

    Abstract : Upon core ionization of a free molecule or a molecule adsorbed on a metal surface, higher binding energy satellites are observed, so called "shake-up" satellites, which can be viewed as valence excitations simultaneously to the creation of the core hole. In this thesis, theoretical studies of such core level XPS satellites in transition metal systems are presented, as well as cluster calculations of XES spectra, using the quantum mechanical INDO method. 2. 2. Development of Nanoimprint Lithography for Fabrication of Electrochemical Transducers

    Author : Marc Beck; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; electrochemistry; interdigitated array; anti-adhesion; anti-sticking; stamp; mold; monolayer deposition; Fysik; post-imprint processes; Physics; transducer; nanoimprint lithography; sensor; Fysicumarkivet A:2003:Beck;

    Abstract : This thesis gives an overview about the current status of nanoimprint lithography, a relatively new nanofabrication tool. The technology is capable for parallel mass production of nm-structured features having a resolution below 10 nm and is usable with high throughput on full wafer scale. READ MORE

  3. 3. Shake-up studies of model systems for adsorbates : Department of Quantum Chemistry, Uppsala University

    Author : Johnny Bustad; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Shake-up; adsorbates; calculations; catalysis; surface science; Chemical physics; Kemisk fysik;

    Abstract : Shake-up studies of model systems for adsorbates are presented. The molecule CO adsorbed on transition metal surfaces belong to one of the most studied systems in surface science. The interest is motivated by fundamental questions about the adsorbate-substrate interaction as well as technical applications, such as catalysis. READ MORE

  4. 4. Calculation and Measurement of the Neutron Emission Spectrum due to Thermonuclear and Higher-Order Reactions in Tokamak Plasmas

    Author : Luigi Ballabio; Jef Ongena; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Applied Nuclear Physics; tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Abstract : A series of analytic and numerical models have been developed for the prediction and interpretation of the energy spectrum of the neutron emission from thermonuclear deuteriumtritium (DT) plasmas. The main component of the neutron emission, due to reactions between thermal fuel ions, has been modeled as well as minority components due to the presence of fast (supra-thermal) ions. READ MORE
