  1. 1. Nonlinear Quantile Regression for Longitudinal Data

    Author : Andreas Karlsson; Uppsala universitet.; [2005]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; bootstrap; dependent errors; median regression; Monte Carlo simulation; panel data; repeated measures; SOCIAL SCIENCES Statistics; computer and systems science Statistics; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP Statistik; data- och systemvetenskap Statistik; SOCIAL SCIENCES Statistics; computer and systems science Statistics Biostatistics; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP Statistik; data- och systemvetenskap Statistik Biostatistik;

    Abstract : The overall objective of the two papers in this thesis is to examine the properties of the weighted nonlinear quantile regression estimator for the analysis of longitudinal data. To this end, the question of which weights to be used, the bias of the estimator and the possibility to calculate confidence intervals has to be examined. READ MORE

  2. 2. Predictive Techniques and Methods for Decision Support in Situations with Poor Data Quality

    University dissertation from Örebro University

    Author : Rikard König; Högskolan i Skövde.; Högskolan i Skövde.; Högskolan i Borås.; [2009]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TECHNOLOGY Information technology; TEKNIKVETENSKAP Informationsteknik; Teknik; Technology; Rule Extraction; Genetic Programming; Uncertainty estimation; Machine Learning; Artificial Neural Networks; Data Mining; Information Fusion; rule extraction; genetic programming; uncertainty estimation; machine learning; artificial neural networks; information fusion; Computer Science; data mining;

    Abstract : Today, decision support systems based on predictive modeling are becoming more common, since organizations often collect more data than decision makers can handle manually. Predictive models are used to find potentially valuable patterns in the data, or to predict the outcome of some event. READ MORE

    Abstract : Flooding is of great concern world-wide, causing damage to infrastructure, property and loss of life. Low-income countries, in particular, can be negatively affected by flood events due to their inherent vulnerabilities. Moreover, data to perform studies for flood risk management in low-income regions are often scarce or lacking sufficient quality. READ MORE

  4. 4. New Results on Combinatorial Algorithms

    University dissertation from Department of Computer Science, Lund University

    Author : Anders Dessmark; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [1998]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sorting; Subgraph isomorphism; Partial k-trees; computer technology; Time complexity; Parallel computation; Data- och systemvetenskap; Convex layers; Systems engineering; Broadcasting;

    Abstract : In this thesis improved upper bounds for several important combinatorial problems are provided. Below is a list of the main results showed in the thesis. The problem of determining whether a k-connected partial k-tree is isomorphic to subgraph of another partial k-tree is shown to be solvable in time O(nk+2). READ MORE

  5. 5. Hierarchical Concurrent Systems from a Model-Oriented perspective

    University dissertation from Department of Computer Science, Lund University

    Author : Daniel Einarson; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2002]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; control; systems; numerical analysis; Computer science; Distributed Systems; Hierarchical Systems; Object-Orientation; Model-Orientation; Datalogi; numerisk analys; system; kontroll; Systems engineering; computer technology; Data- och systemvetenskap;

    Abstract : Real world systems are normally considered as hierarchically organized, for example, we see those as hierarchies of systems including subsystems. Examples on this can be seen in organizations where people act in environments and carry within themselves their own internal subsystem of thinking processes. READ MORE
