  1. 11. Layer Formation on Bed Particles during Fluidized Bed Combustion and Gasification of Woody Biomass

    Author : Hanbing He; Marcus Öhman; Kent Davidsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; layer formation; bed particle; woody biomass; quartz; K-feldspar; olivine; bed agglomeration; deposition; fluidized bed; combustion; gasification; Energiteknik; Energy Engineering;

    Abstract : Although more than a hundred papers dealing with the agglomeration problem in combustion and gasification of biomass can be found in the literature, very few studies focusing on the bed particle layer formation process in fluidized bed combustion (FBC) and fluidized bed gasification (FBG) can be found. With increased knowledge of the bed particle layer formation process — i. READ MORE

  2. 12. Effects of nitrogen deposition on the growth, metabolism and activity of ectomycorrhizal fungi

    Author : Magnus Ellström; MEMEG; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nitrogen deposition; Ectomycorrhizal fungi; Symbiosis; SOM modification; Carbon starvation; Metabolism; Nitrogen leakage; IR-spectroscopy; Mesh bags; Microarray; Axenic growth; Transcriptomics.;

    Abstract : Elevated nitrogen (N) deposition is an environmental problem that can affect plants and microorganisms, which are vital for the terrestrial N and carbon (C) cycles. This thesis has investigated the response of ectomycorrhizal fungi (EMF) to increased N deposition. READ MORE

  3. 13. Model-based Analysis and Design of Atomic Layer Deposition Processes

    Author : Anders Holmqvist; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Atomic layer deposition; Heterogeneous reaction kinetics; Limit-cycle dynamics; Parameter estimation; Multi-objective optimization; Dynamic optimization; Scale-up analysis;

    Abstract : Atomic layer deposition (ALD) is a thin-film manufacturing process in which the growth surface is exposed to non-overlapping alternating injections of gas-phase chemical precursor species separated by intermediate purge periods to prevent gas-phase reactions. ALD is characterized by sequential self-terminating heterogeneous reactions between highly reactive gas-phase precursor species and surface-bound species which, when allowed sufficient conditions to reach saturation, results in highly conformal films, on both planar and topographically complex structures. 4. 14. Towards Controlled Growth and Applications of Carbon Nanotubes

    Author : Raluca Elena Morjan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; acetylene; carbon nanotubes; carbon feedstock; chemical vapor deposition; fullerenes; dc-glow discharge plasma; growth mechanism; metal catalyst;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with growth, characterization and application of carbon nanotubes. The methods involved in the production of carbon nanotubes are thermal chemical vapor deposition (T-CVD) and plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PE-CVD). READ MORE

  5. 15. Toward Energy-efficient Physical Vapor Deposition : Routes for Replacing Substrate Heating during Magnetron Sputtering by Employing Metal Ion Irradiation

    Author : Xiao Li; Grzegorz Greczynski; Ivan Petrov; Lars Hultman; Jyh-Wei Lee; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PVD; Magnetron sputtering; Thin films; HiPIMS; TiAlN; Energy efficiency;

    Abstract : In this Thesis, magnetron sputtering is perfected as an environmental-friendly deposition technique. I performed systematic studies of a novel approach - hybrid high-power impulse and dc magnetron co-sputtering (HiPIMS/DCMS) with metal-ion-synchronized substrate bias pulses. READ MORE
