17. Towards the Integration of Carbon nanostructures into CMOS technology
Abstract : Relentless efforts for miniaturization of traditional complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) devices have reached the limit where the device characteristics are governed by quantum phenomena which are difficult to control. This engendered a need for finding alternative new materials that can be engineered to fabricate devices that will possess at least the same or even better performance than existing CMOS devices. 18. Atomic Layer Deposition and Immobilised Molecular Catalysts Studied by In and Ex Situ Electron Spectroscopy
Abstract : The research work that I describe in my thesis deals with three different heterogenisation approaches for synthesising a heterogeneous transition metal catalyst used for direct C-H activation reactions. The three heterogenisation approaches considered in my research are: (1) heterogenisation of a molecular catalyst on a polymer support using covalent bonds, (2) heterogenisation of a catalyst on a reduced graphene oxide (rGO) support using non-covalent interactions and (3) immobilisation of a catalyst on an inorganic surface using covalent bonds and encapsulation in an inorganic matrix. 19. Domain swapping as a molecular mechanism in amyloidosis
Abstract : Amyloidosis is a group of diseases characterized by a change in protein conformation resulting in aggregation and tissue deposition of amyloid fibrils. One variant of cystatin C, L68Q cystatin C, is highly amyloidogenic and persons carrying the corresponding gene suffer from massive cerebral amyloidosis leading to brain hemorrhage and death. 20. Chemical Vapour Deposition of sp2 Hybridised Boron Nitride
Abstract : The aim of this work was to develop a chemical vapour deposition process and understand the growth of sp2 hybridised Boron Nitride (sp2-BN). Thus, the growth on different substrates together with the variation of growth parameters was investigated in details and is presented in the papers included in this thesis. READ MORE
