  1. 21. On the structures of flavin derivatives : crystallographic studies and a review

    Author : Marie Leijonmarck; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : A summary is given of the crystal structures of one oxidized and two fully reduced flavin derivatives and of one zinc-riboflavin derivative. Structural results from single-crystal studies of thirty-four other flavin compounds and two flavoproteins are included in a review. READ MORE

    Abstract : 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) and derivatives thereof are widely usedprodrugs in treatment of pre-malignant skin diseases of the cancer treatmentmethod photodynamic therapy (PDT). The target molecule in 5-ALAPDTis protoporphyrin IX (PpIX), which is synthesized endogenously from5-ALA via the heme pathway in the cell. READ MORE

  3. 23. Multidimensional engineering for the production of fatty acid derivatives in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

    Author : Yating Hu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; protein engineering; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; fatty acid derivatives; metabolic engineering; tolerance; transporter;

    Abstract : Saccharomyces cerevisiae , also known as budding yeast, has been important for human society since ancient time due to its use during bread making and beer brewing, but it has also made important contribution to scientific studies as model eukaryote. The ease of genetic modification and the robustness and tolerance towards harsh conditions have established yeast as one of the most popular chassis in industrial-scale production of various compounds. 4. 24. Modelling Weather Dynamics for Weather Derivatives Pricing

    Author : Emanuel Evarest Sinkwembe; Martin Singull; Xiangfeng Yang; Fredrik Berntsson; Erik Lindström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on developing an appropriate stochastic model for temperature dynamics as a means of pricing weather derivative contracts based on temperature. There are various methods for pricing weather derivatives ranging from simple one like historical burn analysis, which does not involve modeling the underlying weather variable to complex ones that require Monte Carlo simulations to achieve explicit weather derivatives contract prices, particularly the daily average temperature (DAT) dynamics models. 5. 25. Synthesis of Organic Compounds for Nuclide Therapy : Derivatives of Carboranes, 9-Aminoacridine and Anthracyclines

    Author : Senait Ghirmai; Stefan Sjöberg; Vladimir Tolmachev; Tor Kihlberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic chemistry; 9-Aminoacridin; Carborane; Daunorubicin; Doxorubicin; BNCT; Iodine-125; Organisk kemi; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses the synthesis of organic compounds, some of them are derivatives of compounds with DNA binding properties, for potential use in targeted nuclide therapy. The compounds synthesized therefore also need to contain potent nuclides. READ MORE
