1. Programming and updaing of reaching movements
Abstract : Neuronal activity in the motor cortex (area 4) was recorded during reaching movements in cats, trained to perform target-reaching in response to a tone burst. Out of 350 task related neurones 12% generated short latency (20?110 ms) sensory responses to the cue triggering the reaching movement. READ MORE

2. Neural mechanisms for the control of posture, locomotion and steering : a behavioral, electrophysiological and modeling study in lamprey
Abstract : When animals move around interacting with the environment, the nervous system has to solve several tasks simultaneously in order to produce and control the movements - notably propulsion, posture, balance, and associated movements. Basic motor tasks are controlled by neuronal networks organized into central pattern generators (CPGs) and reflexes, located in the spinal cord and brainstem. READ MORE

3. Gene expresion in rodent spinal neuronal populations and their response to injury
Abstract : Motor neurons are the centre of convergence for all neural activity relating to movements. The activity integrated in the motor neurons is transmitted to appropriate muscles generating coordinated muscle contractions. READ MORE

4. Neurotransmission in CNS regions involved in pain modulation : neurochemical effects of analgesic drugs and spinal cord stimulation in the spinal cord and midbrain periaqueductal grey of the rat
Abstract : The dorsal hom of the spinal cord and the midbrain penaqueductal grey matter (PAG) are important regions for pain modulation. In this thesis the effects of opioids and spinal cord stimulation (SCS) on the release of gamma-amino butyric acid (GABA), substance P (SP) and neurotensin (NT) were investigated in these regions of the rat by in vivo microdialysis. 5. Assessment of venous insufficiency in patients with chronic venous leg ulcers.Venous hemodynamics before and after surgery
Abstract : Venous insufficiency in the legs is a common disease, which may be complicated by chronic leg ulcers in 1% among the population. Venous ulcer duration is often long compared to other aetiologies and for the patient it involves long periods of pain, discomfort and reduced quality of life. READ MORE
