Abstract : Constrained by national tests and the mathematics curriculum, teachers have problems finding time for exploratory and hands-on mathematical activities, especially so in classes with a reduced pace of progression, for example because of a large proportion of second-language learners. Could the leisure-time center, where time is not earmarked, provide such opportunities? The conclusion of this thesis is that this can be done, on the condition that designed activities build on the central premise of the leisure-time center: children have the right to choose which activities to engage with. 3. 13. Integrated Design-Build Management - Studying Institutional Processes to Understand Project Coordination & Performance

Author : Lea Urup; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

Abstract : An increasing number of actors contributing with their skills to design-build projects increase the need for and complexity of coordination. The design-build project delivery method proposes to coordinate actors through collaborative interaction; however, even design-build projects result in poor coordination and building of relatively poor quality. Abstract : Product development has both innovative and analytic sides. Starting from the requirements, a design suggestion is generated. In order to assess how well the envisioned design fulfils the requirements, it is sometimes necessary to build a computer model of it for the analysis. READ MORE

Abstract : The thesis shows how different aspects of sustainable development have been handled or not handled in the third generation infrastructure development in Sweden. The difference between the design of the 3G development – emphazising competition, growth and regional access, based on a strong technological optimism - and the implementation, as the roll out struck the landscape, including the non-handled radiation issue and the legal changes in order to facilitate the roll out, is discussed and analyzed.
