21. Resource efficient products in a circular economy – The case of consumables. From environmental and resource assessment to design guidelines
Abstract : The circular economy (CE) is a concept to challenge the unsustainable production, consumption, and waste management of products, through the recirculation of resources and products through various means while reducing environmental impact. Within this concept, many measures are recommended for reducing environmental impact and resource use. READ MORE

22. The Design Platform Approach –Enabling platform-based development in the engineer-to-order industry
Abstract : Manufacturing companies are continuously faced with requirements regarding technology novelty, shorter time to market, a higher level of functionality, and lower prices on their products. This is especially the case for companies developing and manufacturing highly customized products, also known as engineer-to-order (ETO) companies. READ MORE

23. Life Cycle Energy Optimisation: A multidisciplinary engineering design optimisation framework for sustainable vehicle development
Abstract : This thesis explores how the systemic-level environmental footprint of light-duty vehicles could be reduced through integrative design using the Life Cycle Energy Optimisation (LCEO) methodology. This methodology aims at finding a design solution that uses a minimum amount of cumulative energy demand over the different phases of the vehicle's life cycle; while complying with a set of functional constraints, thereby avoiding any sub-optimal energy demand shifts between the vehicle's different life cycle phases. 24. Virtual Collaborative Design Environment: Information structure and interfaces
Abstract : The failure to identify design issues in early phases of construction projects has been identified as a significant cause of costly rework, as these issues can impact the building occupants’ abilities to efficiently perform their daily work tasks. Therefore, it is crucial to consider their feedback when design reviewing. READ MORE
