  1. 1. Design of Direct-driven Permanent-magnet Generators for Wind Turbines

    Author : Anders Grauers; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; optimization; direct drive; synchronous generator; wind turbine; design; low speed; permanent magnet; frequency converter;

    Abstract : This thesis presents an investigation of how a direct-driven wind turbine generator should be designed and how small and efficient such a generator will be. Advantages and disadvantages of various types of direct-driven wind turbine generators are discussed, and a radial-flux permanent-magnet generator connected to a forced-commutated rectifier is chosen for a detailed theoretical investigation. 2. 2. Direct Driven Generators for Vertical Axis Wind Turbines

    Author : Sandra Eriksson; Hans Bernhoff; Mats Leijon; Jörgen Blennow; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; synchronous generator; wind power; vertical axis wind turbine; simulations; experiments; finite element method; Engineering physics; Teknisk fysik;

    Abstract : Wind power is a renewable energy source that is increasingly used all over the world. Most wind turbines have a horizontal axis of rotation but a few have a vertical axis of rotation. The concept presented in this thesis is a straight-bladed vertical axis wind turbine with a direct driven cable-wound permanent magnet synchronous generator. READ MORE

  3. 3. On Design and Analysis of a Novel Transverse Flux Generator for Direct-driven Wind Application

    Author : Dmitry Svechkarenko; Chandur Sadarangani; Zi-Qiang Zhu; KTH; []
    Keywords : Transverse flux machines; permanent magnet machines; finite element analysis; direct-driven generator; offshore wind turbine; renewable energy;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the analysis of a permanent magnet synchronous generator suited for direct-drivenwind turbines inmegawatt class. The higher specific torque and power density of a transverse flux permanent magnet machine in comparison to conventional radial-flux machines make it a promising solution for direct-driven wind turbine generators. 4. 4. On analytical modeling and design of a novel transverse flux generator for offshore wind turbines

    Author : Dmitry Svechkarenko; Chandur Sadarangani; Waqas Arshad; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Transverse flux machines; permanent magnet machines; direct-driven gen- erator; offshore wind turbine; renewable energy; global warming; Electrical engineering; Elektroteknik;

    Abstract : The object of this thesis is to develop a cost effective direct-driven wind generator suited for offshore wind turbines. As the generator price is a complicated function dependent on many parameters, the emphasis is mainly put on reduction of the weight of active materials, such as copper, laminated steel, permanent magnets, and electrical insulation. 5. 5. Analysis, Modeling and Control of Doubly-Fed Induction Generators for Wind Turbines

    Author : Andreas Petersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the analysis, modeling, and control of the doubly-fed induction machine used as a wind turbine generator. The energy efficiency of wind turbine systems equipped with doubly-fed induction generators are compared to other wind turbine generator systems. READ MORE
