  1. 1. Value Driven Design : a methodology for value-oriented decision making in preliminary design

    Author : Alessandro Bertoni; Sergio Cavalieri; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Produktinnovation; Product Innovation;

    Abstract : Making design decisions during preliminary design of a complex product, such as an aircraft, is a difficult activity. Numerous teams, acting on a global scale, take part in such design activities, approaching the problem from different perspectives and at different levels of granularity. READ MORE

  2. 2. Increasing Innovation Capability of Product-Service Systems through Collaborative Networks

    Author : Johanna Wallin; Magnus Kuschel; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Value; Functional Product Development; Innovation network; Collaboration; Innovation Capability; Measuring innovation; Product-Service System; Funktionella produkter;

    Abstract : Many manufacturing industries are undergoing a transition from manufacturing of products towards integrating more services into the traditional product concepts andprovide product-service systems (PSS). Development of PSS changes the focus from the product to the functionality of the product; hence it can be referred to as functionalproduct development. READ MORE

  3. 3. On synthesis in the later phases of the mechanical engineering design process

    Author : Damien Motte; Innovation; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; detail design; verbal protocol analysis; problem solving; mechanical engineering design process; design activity; embodiment design; design analysis; machine design; maskinkonstruktion;

    Abstract : Only 15% to 30% of product development projects require the development of new product concepts. This means that the majority of design projects are carried out within the embodiment design and detail design phases. READ MORE

  4. 4. On textile printing with thermochromic inks

    Author : Marjan Kooroshnia; Hanna Landin; Sara Robertson; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Textiles and Fashion Design ; Textil och mode konstnärlig ;

    Abstract : This thesis describes an exploration of the principles of applying leuco dye-based inks to textile design practice. The main motivation has been to explore the design properties and potentials of leuco dye-based thermochromic inks when printed on textiles in order to obtain an understanding and facilitate the design of dynamic surface patterns. 5. 5. Fundamentals of a Methodology for Predictive Design Analysis

    Author : Martin Eriksson; Innovation; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Predictive design analysis; Generic design analysis process model; Confidence appraisal activities; Computer-based design analysis; Engineering design; Integration;

    Abstract : The rapid development of computer-based design analysis tools and methods such as the finite element method (FEM) within computational structural mechanics (CSM), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and multi-body systems (MBS) during recent decades has fundamentally changed the way in which products are designed and developed. Among the many advantages observed in industrial practice, one can mention improved understanding of product properties and behavior, the possibility to optimize critical design parameters and to optimize parts as well as the entire product at a system level, the possibility to explore a design space during the synthesis activity, and a decrease of the need for physical testing and thus of the number of physical prototypes needed.
