  1. 16. Shape and Being Shaped : Sketching with Haptics in Soma Design

    Author : Charles Windlin; Kristina Höök; Jarmo Laaksolahti; Anders Lundström; Bill Buxton; KTH; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sketching; Soma Design; Constructive Design Research; Haptic Interaction Design; first-person; Människa-datorinteraktion; Human-computer Interaction;

    Abstract : Sketching is an integral part of the design process, and it often occurs in the early ideation phase where the focus is on expressing ideas, thoughts, and emotions, allowing them to take shape and making it possible to share them with others to propel the design process forwards. In principle, sketching is a process of externalising thoughts into visualisations, and it influences the creator and collaborators by enabling them to realise and reflect on the possibility and viability of their ideas and develop them further by adding to or subtracting from the sketches. 2. 17. Circular design through co-creation: Exploring perspectives and future directions for design in a circular economy

    Author : Giliam Dokter; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Circular Economy; Co-creation; Design practice; Prototyping; Design for Sustainability; Circular Design;

    Abstract : In the efforts to stimulate sustainable development, the circular economy aims to establish ‘closed-loop’ flows of resources in a way that enables businesses and society to reap benefits from maintaining products, components and materials at their highest utility and value, while simultaneously reducing the generation of waste. Designing for a circular economy will require designers to, more than ever, anticipate how artifacts function and change over time and conceptualise the entire lifecycle (including the design, production, use and end-of-life phase) in a coherent and holistic way. 3. 18. Expansive design for teachers : An activity theoretical approach to design and work integrated learning

    Author : Dennis Augustsson; Åsa Mäkitalo; Thomas Winman; Anne Edwards; Högskolan Väst; []

    Abstract : This thesis explores how Participatory Design (PD) and Cultural Historical Activity Theory (CHAT) can be combined and used as a theoretical framework and methodology in a professional development activity for teachers. A shift in the way we view teachers, from implementors to designers who actively construct, invent, and develop the practice of schooling also calls for changes in teacher education and professional development activities. Abstract : This thesis studies how the practice of eating together impacts on liveable city making. In this thesis, the practice of eating together is called commensality, which is a collective action that creates shared environments. Through time these environments are turned into recognized meeting places where locals gather. READ MORE
