1. Biodiesel Spray Combustion Modeling Based on a Detailed Chemistry Approach
Abstract : Replacing conventional diesel fuels with biodiesel has the potential to drastically reduce engine-out emissions of soot, carbon monoxide, and total unburnt hydrocarbons, at the cost of slightly increased nitrogen oxide emissions. However, to realize the full benefits of using biofuels in this way, there is a need for theoretical models describing their combustion in internal combustion engines. READ MORE

2. Bio-diesel Spray Combustion Modeling Based on a Detailed Chemistry Approach
Abstract : The increased use of bio-diesel fuel is expected to reduce emissions of carbon-containing greenhouse gases. To optimize the application of bio-diesel in internal combustion engines, a theoretical model has been developed. READ MORE

3. Full Cycle Engine Simulations with Detailed Chemistry
Abstract : The modeling work developed in this thesis can be divided in two main areas of investigations: autoignition related to spark ignition engine and combustion and emissions formation in relation to diesel engines. A first version of a detailed kinetics engine simulation program, extended to handle full cycle calculations, was employed in order to demonstrate the strong effect that nitric oxide from the residual gas has on the autoignition onset. 4. Modeling Diesel spray combustion using a Detailed Chemistry Approach
Abstract : The rapid development of computer hardware during the past decade has contributed substantially to advances in almost all branches of science. Computer modeling is being applied to increasingly small physical scales and increasingly large domains, facilitating the generation of advanced phenomenological models and models based on first principles. 5. Modeling of a Free Piston Energy Converter
Abstract : ABSTRACTThe Free Piston Energy Converter (FPEC) is a new type of automotive prime mover, offering high efficiency in conjunction with low emissions. The FPEC essentially consists of two opposing cylinders with a linear alternator incorporated in-between that produces electric power directly. READ MORE
