1. Topics in convex and mixed binary linear optimization
Abstract : This thesis concerns theory, algorithms, and applications for two problem classes within the realm of mathematical optimization; convex optimization and mixed binary linear optimization. To the thesis is appended five papers containing its main contributions. READ MORE

2. Epidemiology of heart failure and feasibility of home care in patients with worsening chronic heart failure
Abstract : Aim: To investigate gender-specific trends in long-term mortality in patients hospitalised for ischaemic and non-ischaemic heart failure (HF) and explore temporal trends in the risk of HF complicating acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Another aim is to characterise patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) that seek an emergency department (ED) because of their deteriorating condition and evaluate the feasibility of home care (HC) in comparison with conventional care (CC) in patients with worsening CHF. 3. Optimization of Maintenance Planning for Multi-Component Systems, and Primal-Dual Convergence Characterizations in Convex Optimization
Abstract : This thesis considers two topics within mathematical programming. The first topic is an investigation into the behaviour of primal-dual subgradient algorithms with primal ergodic averaging in the case where it is not known a priori whether the primal program is consistent or not. 4. Deterioration Models and Road Capital as Tools in Performance Contracts for Pavement Maintenance
Abstract : A reorganization of the Swedish National Road Administration (SNRA) has urged a demand to work as a professional agency only, without any work by direct labor. This structure has enforced a change in how to handle the pavement maintenance and performance contracts are being promoted since they encourage product development and sustainability. READ MORE

5. Essays on Transport Economics
Abstract : Essay 1: The wear and tear of an extra vehicle that uses a road results in advancementof future repavements. This increases the present value cost of these repavements, which is interpreted as the marginal cost. READ MORE
