  1. 1. Colorectal Liver Metastases. Aspects on Diagnosis and Surgical Treatment

    Author : Björn O B Ohlsson; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; carcinoembryonic antigen; fine-needle aspiration cytology; intraoperative ultrasonography; computed tomography; dearterialization; liver resection; Colorectal cancer; liver metastases; follow-up; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Abstract : Liver is the most common site of dissemination in colorectal cancer, and untreated liver metastases are associated with a poor prognosis. The main reason for trying to detect liver metastases early is that liver resection offers a chance for cure in selected patients. READ MORE

  2. 2. Mangafodipir trisodium (MnDPDP)-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging of the liver and pancreas

    Author : Chen Wang; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Liver; pancreas; neoplasms; metastases; endocrine tumor; MR imaging; contrast medium; mangafodipir trisodium; MnDPDP; manganese; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; diagnostisk radiologi; Diagnostic Radiology;

    Abstract : Contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the liver and pancreas is frequently performed to improve the sensitivity and specificity of lesion detection in these organs. The concept of using tissue-specific contrast media is to selectively enhance the normal parenchyma, but not lesions, so that the contrast between tumorous and normal tissue is increased, and lesion detectability improved. 3. 3. Aspects of diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease

    Author : Magnus Holmer; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common chronic liver disease globally. NAFLD is caused by obesity, often in combination with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D). Lifestyle modifications that lead to weight loss, primarily diet change, is the only treatment proven to reverse steatosis and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). READ MORE

  4. 4. Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease : Aspects on Diagnosis and Long-term Prognosis

    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common cause of chronic liver disease affecting approximately 25% of the global population and is commonly recognized as the hepatic manifestation of the metabolic syndrome. The histological spectrum of NAFLD ranges from isolated steatosis to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), with risk of developing fibrosis and subsequent cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Abstract : Background: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is highly associated with the metabolic syndrome, and due to increasing prevalence of for example obesity it is now the most common liver disease in the world. A minority progress to advanced fibrosis/cirrhosis, which is associated with increased mortality, but it is not entirely clear which patients who have an increased risk of fibrosis. READ MORE
