  1. 16. Dementia with Lewy bodies - a clinical and neurological approach

    Author : Elisabet Londos; Klinisk minnesforskning; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Alzheimers diseases; Clinical features; Neuropathology; Cerebral Blood Flow; Gerontologi; Gerontology; Dementia; Lewy bodies;

    Abstract : Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) is a dementia disorder, clinically characterized by fluctuating cognitive impairment, attention deficits, visual hallucinations, parkinsonism and other neuropsychiatric features. Sensitivity to neuroleptic medication is a common finding. READ MORE

  2. 17. Metabolomic features and viral infections in paediatric inflammatory bowel disease

    Author : Niklas Nyström; Jonas Halfvarson; Kjell Alving; Yigael Finkel; Ignacio Catalan Serra; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Inflammatory bowel disease; IBD; Crohn s disease; ulcerative colitis; pediatric; metabolomics; lipidomics; enterovirus; coxsackievirus; Pediatrik; Pediatrics; Internal Medicine; Internmedicin;

    Abstract : Background: Up to 25% of patients with inflammatory bowel disease have a paediatric onset (PIBD). The pathophysiological processes underlying PIBD are complex and largely unknown.  Aims: To investigate a hypothesized role for human enterovirus B (HEV-B) in Crohn’s disease (CD) (I). READ MORE

  3. 18. Aspects of Staphylococcus aureus in Chronic Rhinosinusitis

    Author : Ulrica Thunberg; Bo Söderquist; Svante Hugosson; Hans Fredlund; Johan Hellgren; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Chronic rhinosinusitis; Staphylococcus aureus; enterotoxins; immune response; SNP; clinical features;

    Abstract : Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) affects about 10% of the European population, and is considered a great scourge. Its cause is not clear. Findings of Staphylococcus aureus in the maxillary sinus are common in CRS patients, but are usually regarded as insignificant due to the bacterium’s attribute as a commensal elsewhere. S. READ MORE

  4. 19. Bayesian Inference for Microwave Diagnostics at Joint European Torus

    Author : Stefan Schmuck; Per Brunsell; Thomas Jonsson; Jakob Svensson; Laurie Porte; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ECE; Bayesian; Fourier transform; spectroscopy; joint inference; length-scale; Gaussian process; microwave diagnostic; JET; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : The major goal of this thesis is to perform Bayesian inference jointly for electron kinetic profiles, a toroidal magnetic field correction, diagnostic sensitivities, and wall reflection properties given noisy measurements of four microwave diagnostics at the tokamak JET. Besides the measurements, this kind of inference considers prior knowledge, like profile length-scales, to update objectively the information about the physics parameters. READ MORE

  5. 20. Mangafodipir trisodium (MnDPDP)-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging of the liver and pancreas

    Author : Chen Wang; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Liver; pancreas; neoplasms; metastases; endocrine tumor; MR imaging; contrast medium; mangafodipir trisodium; MnDPDP; manganese; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; diagnostisk radiologi; Diagnostic Radiology;

    Abstract : Contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the liver and pancreas is frequently performed to improve the sensitivity and specificity of lesion detection in these organs. The concept of using tissue-specific contrast media is to selectively enhance the normal parenchyma, but not lesions, so that the contrast between tumorous and normal tissue is increased, and lesion detectability improved.
