6. Capillary and interstitial transport of fluid and solutes across the peritoneal membrane
Abstract : According to the three-pore model of peritoneal transport the major exchange pathway between the blood and the peritoneal cavity is represented by “small pores”, permeable to small solutes and water. Osmotically induced fluid flow, as during peritoneal dialysis (PD), is postulated to occur to a great extent through a water-only pathway, whereas proteins are predicted to reach the peritoneal cavity by unidirectional convection across “large pores”. 7. Infrared studies : Method development and binding of ligands to pyruvate kinase
Abstract : Infrared spectroscopy is a valuable technique for the study of ligand induce change in biomolecules. Our development of a dialysis accessory to attenuated total reflection infrared spectroscopy makes this technique more universal for ligand binding studies. READ MORE

8. Interactions between Polymers in Dispersion Coating and Surface Sizing of Paper and Board
Abstract : Barrier dispersion coatings are applied to paper or board in order to lower the permeability of the material to liquids and gases. In the present study, the film formation and barrier properties of latices used for coating applications were investigated. READ MORE

9. On microvascular blood flow assessment with the new microdialysis urea clearance technique
Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to develop and evaluate a new way of monitoring blood flow with microdialysis. A thin catheter consisting of a semipermeable membrane is implanted in the tissue being studied. READ MORE

10. Malnutrition in patients with chronic renal failure
Abstract : Protein-energy malnutrition is common in patients with chronic renal failure (CRF) and may contribute to a poor clinical outcome. However, the role of nutrition in this regard has not been clearly defined. READ MORE
