  1. 1. Synthesis and applications of low silica zeolites from Bolivian clay and diatomaceous earth

    Author : Javier Gustavo Garcia Mendoza; Johanne Mouzon; Niklas Hedin; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Zeolites; Synthesis; clay; diatomite; adsorption; ion exchange; Chemical Technology; Kemisk teknologi;

    Abstract : The aim of the present work was to develop synthesis routes to produce synthetic zeolites with industrial attractiveness from non-expensive Bolivian raw materials, such as clays and diatomite. In particular, the work was focused on the synthesis of low-silica zeolites with the LTA and FAU structures. READ MORE

  2. 2. Characterization and preparation of lightweight silica based ceramics for building applications

    Author : Edwin Escalera; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materialteknik; Engineering Materials;

    Abstract : Bolivia is a country with considerable quantities of non-metallic resources. Some important deposits of these resources are located in the high and cold Altiplano as well as in the tropical areas. These deposits are not being exploited industrially but both areas have production of some ceramics in a handmade and empiric way. READ MORE

  3. 3. Crystallization of NBA-ZSM-5 from kaolin

    Author : Wilson Aguilar-Mamani; Johanne Mouzon; Benoît Louis; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; zeolite; ZSM-5; n-butylamine; crystal; raw materials; Chemical Technology; Kemisk teknologi;

    Abstract : ZSM-5 is an aluminosilicate zeolite with high Si/Al ratio with suitable properties for catalysis, ion exchange, adsorption and membrane applications. The main goal of this thesis was to study the growth of ZSM-5 zeolite crystals from inexpensive natural sources of silica and alumina, as well as n-butylamine (NBA) as a low-cost structure directing agent. 4. 4. Diatom and Sedimentological Investigations on West Antarctic Shelf Sediment

    Author : Charlotte Sjunneskog; Bjorg Stabell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Earth sciences; Antarctica; climate change; diatom abundance; geochemistry; Geovetenskap; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; Quarternary Geology; kvartärgeologi;

    Abstract : Climate and environmental change following the retreat of the last glacial ice sheet in the Antarctic Peninsula has been interpreted, employing diatom abundance, relative abundance of Chaetoceros resting spores and diatom assemblages as proxies. These together with sedimentological data and radiocarbon dating, suggest four major events that can be further subdivided. READ MORE

  5. 5. Galactoglucomannan recovery from softwood spent sulfite liquor: Challenges, process design and techno-economic evaluations

    Author : Basel Al-Rudainy; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Galactoglucomannan; Lignin; Lignosulfonates; Lignin-carbohydrate-complexes; Membrane filtration; Dead-end filtration; Precipitation; Adsorption;

    Abstract : In the production of pulp and paper, water-soluble components, such as hemicellulose, monosaccharides, and lignin, are released and accumulate in the process water. The process water is usually concentrated and incinerated for heat generation and the recovery of pulping chemicals, such as in the Kraft and sulfite processes. READ MORE
