1. Control of Hybrid Electric Vehicles with Diesel Engines
Abstract : This thesis is an approach to improve electric hybrid vehicles with respect to fuel consumption and to fulfil the future intended NOX emission regulations. It is based upon the conclusions made in the licentiate thesis Analysing Hybrid Drive System Topologies (Jonasson, 2002). READ MORE

2. CFD-based Analysis of Combustion Processes in a Free-Piston Diesel Engine
Abstract : The Free Piston Engine (FPE) which is capable of operating in a variable compression ratio mode, allows flexible auto-ignition control on a cycle-to-cycle basis without any hardware modifications. In this study combustion processes in an FPE were examined using the KIVA-3V CFD code with detailed chemical kinetics (305 reactions among 70 species) of a Diesel surrogate fuel incorporated. 3. Optimal Control of Electrified Powertrains
Abstract : Vehicle powertrain electrification, i.e. combining the internal combustion engine (ICE) with an electric motor (EM), is a potential way of meeting the increased demands for efficient and low emission transportation, at a price of increased powertrain complexity since more degrees of freedom (DoF) have been introduced. 4. Cost and financing of the sustainability transition of the Swedish road freight transport sector
Abstract : The cost and financing of the road freight sector’s sustainability transition, driven by significant greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and cost considerations, represent an urgent yet underexplored research focus. This study investigates the costs of fleet replacement with zero-emission powertrains, battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and fuel cell vehicles (FCVs), emphasizing cost variables that have been overlooked in transition research. 5. The rotating injector as a tool for exploring DI diesel combustion and emissions formation processes
Abstract : A diesel fuel injector has been modified to allow rotationaround its axis, driven by an electric motor. Injections at upto 6000 rpm from the rotating injector have been investigatedunder the influence of air swirl on one optical research engineand one optically accessible heavy-duty diesel engine.
