21. Experimental Investigations of Combustion Chamber Heat Transfer in a Light-Duty Diesel Engine
Abstract : This work concerned experimental studies of heat transfer in a light-duty diesel engine. Combustion is affected by several parameters, such as pressure, engine speed, mass of injected fuel and in-cylinder gas flow. These parameters are in turn affected by the combustion chamber geometry and fuel spray characteristics. READ MORE

22. CFD-based Analysis of Combustion Processes in a Free-Piston Diesel Engine
Abstract : The Free Piston Engine (FPE) which is capable of operating in a variable compression ratio mode, allows flexible auto-ignition control on a cycle-to-cycle basis without any hardware modifications. In this study combustion processes in an FPE were examined using the KIVA-3V CFD code with detailed chemical kinetics (305 reactions among 70 species) of a Diesel surrogate fuel incorporated. 23. Modelling of Catalytic Monolith Reactors for Exhaust Aftertreatment
Abstract : The incomplete combustion of liquid or gaseous fuels in the internal combustion engine inherently produces several toxic emissions that need to be removed. This is done through a series of catalytic converters, referred to as the exhaust aftertreatment system (EATS), each catalyst with its own purpose. READ MORE

24. Respiratory and cardiovascular responses to diesel exhaust exposure
Abstract : Background: Exposure to traffic-derived air pollution is associated to high incidence of respiratory and cardio-vascular morbidity and mortality. Diesel engines and fossil fuel contribute to a great amount to the ambient particulate matter pollution. READ MORE

25. Late Cycle Soot Oxidation in Diesel Engines
Abstract : Diesel engines are the most common engine technology used in transportation. Its widespread use comes from its inherent high efficiency and its relative low cost. It suffers from pollutant emission issues, however, that need detailed understanding of their origins to meet the strictest current and upcoming emission standards. READ MORE
