  1. 6. Dosimetry and radiation quality in fast-neutron radiation therapy : A study of radiation quality and basic dosimetric properties of fast-neutrons for external beam radiotherapy and problems associated with corrections of measured charged particle cross-sections

    Author : Jonas Söderberg; Gudrun Alm Carlsson; Crister Ceberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neutron; Dosimetry; Radiotherapy; Monte Carlo; Microdosimetry; Cross-section; RBE; LET; Energy-loss corrections; Radiological physics; Radiofysik;

    Abstract : The dosimetric properties of fast-neutron beams with energies ≤80 MeV were explored using Monte Carlo techniques. Taking into account transport of all relevant types of released charged particles (electrons, protons, deuterons, tritons, 3He and α particles) pencil-beam dose distributions were derived and used to calculate absorbed dose distributions. 2. 7. Elastic Neutron Scattering at 96 MeV

    Author : Joakim Klug; Jan Blomgren; Arjan Plompen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; neutron; detection; CsI; elastic scattering; differential cross section; optical potential; kerma; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Applied Nuclear Physics; Tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Abstract : A facility for studies of elastic neutron scattering in the 50–130 MeV range has been developed. In addition to elastic neutron scattering, it has been used for (n,p) and (n,d) reaction experiments. The performance of the device has been illustrated in measurements of the (n,p) and (n,n) cross sections on 1H and 12C. READ MORE

  3. 8. Neutron Scattering at 96 MeV

    Author : Angelica Öhrn; Jan Blomgren; Robert Haight; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; neutron; elastic scattering; inelastic scattering; differential cross section; optical model potential; Wick s limit; angular distribution; pre-equilibrium; Kärnfysik; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : Data on elastic scattering of 96 MeV neutrons from 56Fe, 89Y and 208Pb in the angular interval 10-70° are presented. The previously published data on 208Pb have been extended, as a new method has been developed to obtain additional information at the most forward angles. READ MORE

  4. 9. PHYSIOLOGICAL AND BIOMECHANICAL FACTORS DETERMINING CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING PERFORMANCE

    Author : Erik Andersson; Hans-Christer Holmberg; Glenn Björklund; Thomas Stöggl; Jos J. de Koning; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : cycle characteristics; energy cost; energy yield; incline; joint angles; kinematics; kinetics; mechanics; Nordic skiing; oxygen deficit; oxygen demand; technique transitions; total metabolic rate.;

    Abstract : Cross-country (c.c.) skiing is a complex sport discipline from both physiological and biomechanical perspectives, with varying course topographies that require different proportions of the involved sub-techniques to be utilised. A relatively new event in c. READ MORE

  5. 10. Meson production in pd collisions

    Author : Karin Schönning; Jozef Zlomanczuk; Bo Höistad; Susan Schadmand; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; meson production; measured angular distribution; total cross section; polarisation; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Nuclear Physics; kärnfysik;

    Abstract : Meson production in proton-deuteron collisions has been studied using the WASA detector facility at the CELSIUS storage ring in Uppsala. Data were obtained at two different beam energies, 1360 MeV and 1450 MeV, slightly above threshold for η and ω mesons. READ MORE
