21. The relationship between overweight and depression in view of genes, environment and their joint influence
Abstract : Obesity and depression are known to often go hand in hand, but is this due to our genetic heritage, environmental factors or a combination thereof? With a neuroscientific approach, I have investigated the relationship between obesity and depression with the aim of bridging the different levels of research available in order to better understand this complex topic. Using data from a longitudinal cohort with adults, we analysed the genetic contribution to antidepressant response in Study I. READ MORE

22. Development and application of new methods for anticancer drug discovery and early evaluation
Abstract : A non-clonogenic assay using the redox dye Alamar Blue and primary human tumor cells (PHTC) from patients and human tumor cell lines (HTCL) was established for rapid screening and evaluation of anticancer drugs. PHTC cultures from chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and ovarian carcinoma (Ovca) were compared with renal carcinoma (ACHN) and lymphocytic (CCRF-CEM) HTLCs in response to 63 toxic or non-toxic compounds. 23. Characterization and Correction of Analog-to-Digital Converters
Abstract : Denna avhandling behandlar analog-digitalomvandling. I synnerhet behandlas postkorrektion av analog-digitalomvandlare (A/D-omvandlare). A/D-omvandlare är i praktiken behäftade med vissa fel som i sin tur ger upphov till distorsion i omvandlarens utsignal. READ MORE

24. Toxicity and biological impact of metal and metal oxide nanoparticles : Focus on the vascular toxicity of ultra-small titanium dioxide nanoparticles
Abstract : The application of nanoparticles (NPs) in different technologies has led to tremendous advancement in those fields. Moreover, there is growing interest in application of ultra-small NPs (USNPs) at 1-3 nm due to their distinct molecule like features. Parallel to these promises, there is a growing concern regarding their safety. READ MORE

25. On Robust LPC-spectrum Coding and Vector Quantization
Abstract : Digital speech coding is concerned with representing a discrete-time speech signal with as few bits per second as possible without introducing annoying artifacts in the coded speech. Many modern speech coders are based on Linear Predictive Coding (LPC) which employ a source-filter model for speech production. READ MORE
