  1. 1. MRI assessment of haemophilic arthropathy

    Author : Björn Lundin; Lund Diagnostisk radiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; medical instrumentation; tomography; radiology; Clinical physics; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Arthropathy; Factor VIII; Factor IX; MRI; Haemophilia; Klinisk fysiologi;

    Abstract : Haemophilia is a recessive genetic bleeding disorder in which coagulation time is prolonged due to the absence or malfunction of either of the serum proteins Factor VIII or IX. Joint destruction following repeated haemarthroses is the main cause of morbidity in haemophiliacs, and such arthropathy can be prevented or postponed by implementing prophylactic therapy with factor concentrate at an early age. 2. 2. On Causal Attribution

    Author : B. Ingemar B. Lindahl; Dugald Murdoch; Ingmar Pörn; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; causation; cause-condition distinction; causal selection; differentiating factor; inus condition; explanation; covering-law model; Mill’s methods; objectivity; pragmatics; responsibility; abnormalism; history; science; Theoretical philosophy; Teoretisk filosofi; Theoretical Philosophy; teoretisk filosofi;

    Abstract : This dissertation treats of the problem of attributing the occurrence of an individual event or state to a single cause — a problem commonly understood either as a question of distinguishing the cause from the mere conditions or as a matter of singling out, from several causes, one cause, as the cause. The main purpose of the study is to clarify some basic concepts, and some criteria of ascertainment of the cause, that may be discerned in the literature on causal attribution. READ MORE

  3. 3. Fibroblast growth factor-induced signal transduction

    Author : Peter Klint; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Abstract : Fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) evoke cellular responses by binding to FGF receptors (FGFRs). FGFRs are cell surface expressed membrane-spanning receptors with intrinsic stimulatable tyrosine kinase activity. This thesis describes the cell proliferation or differentiation. READ MORE

  4. 4. Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor-1 Function in Vasculo- and Angiogenesis

    Author : Peetra Magnusson; Lena Claesson-Welsh; Anne Eichmann; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pathology; FGF; FGFR-1; VEGFR-2; PDGFR-β; endothelial cells; embryonic stem cell; angiogenesis; hematopoiesis; Patologi; Pathology; Patologi;

    Abstract : During development of the mammalian embryo, spatial and temporal expression of fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) and their cognate receptors are vital in the regulation of a number of patterning processes. Inappropriate or decreased expression leads to severe malformations and even embryonic death. READ MORE

  5. 5. Ras-MAPK signaling in differentiating SH-SY5Y human neuroblastoma cells

    Author : Anna-Karin Olsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; Neuroblastoma; SH-SY5Y; differentiation; neurite; Ras; MAPK; PKC; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Pathology; patologi;

    Abstract : Neuroblastoma is a malignant childhood cancer, originating from sympathetic neuroblasts of the peripheral nervous system. Neuroblastoma is a heterogenous group of tumours, while some are highly malignant others can spontaneosly mature into a more benign form or regress. READ MORE
