  1. 11. Constitutive Behaviour and Fracture of Adhesive Layers : Inverse Methods and Energetic Balance

    Author : Svante Alfredsson; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; adhesive layer; constitutive behaviour; fracture; energy release rate; shear fracture; mode-mixity; experimental method; inverse solution; multi-material joints; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP; Teknik; Technology;

    Abstract : In the automobile industry, current demands on reduced emissions with maintained or even increased crash worthiness, forces the industry to seek weight-reducing designs. The possibility to use lightweight materials is obviously attractive. At joints, these lightweight materials have to be connected to high-strength or low-cost materials. READ MORE

  2. 12. Markets, mixtures and molecular methods : Investigating medicinal plant and edible orchid diversity in Tanzania and Zambia

    Author : Sarina Veldman; Hugo J. de Boer; Tinde R. van Andel; Barbara Gravendeel; Joseph N. Otieno; Julie Hawkins; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DNA barcoding; Africa; Species delimitation; Orchids; Medicinal plants;

    Abstract : Medicinal plants are an important source of primary healthcare for many people in Tanzania. These medicinal plants are harvested from the wild, and increasing commercial trade poses a serious threat to local plant populations. Currently it is unknown which species are traded and in what amounts. READ MORE

  3. 13. Genetic diversity and differentiation in natural and managed stands of Norway spruce (Picea abies)

    Author : Helena Eklöf; Pär K. Ingvarsson; Xiao-Ru Wang; Carolina Bernhardsson; Katri Kärkkäinen; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Norway spruce; Picea abies; forestry; genetic diversity; seed orchards; forest management; WGS; GBS; sequencing; PoolSeq; capture probes; genetic differentiation;

    Abstract : Being one of Sweden’s most important tree species, both as a keystone species and for the forest industry, it is important that we keep our stands of Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) as healthy as possible. READ MORE

  4. 14. Modeling normal and malignant hematopoiesis in vitro. To screen for extrinsic regulators and differentiation therapy

    Author : Simon Hultmark; Avdelningen för molekylärmedicin och genterapi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; acute myeloid leukaemia; Hematologi; stem cells; differentiation induction; leukaemia; treatment; small molecule drugs; PKC; FLT3; shRNA; small molecule inhibitor; Small Molecule Libraries; MEK ERK pathway; natural product; co-culture; drug screening; combination therapy;

    Abstract : The incredible thing with blood stem cells, also known as hematopoietic stem cells (HSC), is that they can restore normal hematopoiesis in patients that need a new blood system. Since a prerequisite for successful transplantation is immune compatibility, it requires large donor registries to find a suitable match for a recipient. READ MORE

  5. 15. Nuclear medicine methods in idiopathic Parkinsonism : pre- and postsynaptic dopamine SPECT

    Author : Susanna Jakobson Mo; Katrine Åhlström Riklund; Anne Larsson Strömvall; Lars Forsgren; Rimma Axelsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Nuclear medicine; SPECT; 123I-FP-Cit; 123I-IBZM; dopamine; parkinsonism; Parkinson’s disease; multiple system atrophy; progressive supranuclear palsy; Radiology; radiologi;

    Abstract : Background: Single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) with dopamine transporter (DAT) and dopamine D2 receptor (D2R) ligands can visualise the integrity of the nigrostriatal dopamine system. Parkinson’s disease (PD) and the atypical parkinsonian diseases (APD), progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) and multiple system atrophy (MSA), have similar symptoms and dopamine depletion, but differ in pharmacological response and prognosis.
