  1. 6. Analyzing technological change in low carbon power generation

    Author : Ulrika Claeson Colpier; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Experience curves; technology assessment; endogenous technological change;

    Abstract : In order to mitigate climate change while satisfying the growing global electricity demand, technological change within the power generating system is crucial. New low carbon technologies need to replace the current more carbon-intensive options. READ MORE

  2. 7. (Photo)electrochemical Water Oxidation: From Catalysis to Functional Device

    Author : Hao Yang; Licheng Sun; Marc Koper; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; artificial photosynthesis; solar fuels; water oxidation; nucleophilic attack; conjugated microporous polymer; host-guest chemistry; photoanode; perovskites; artificiell fotosyntes; solbränslen; vattenoxidation; nukleofil attack; konjugerad mikroporös polymer; värd-gästkemi; fotoanoder; perovskiter; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : The key challenge within artificial photosynthesis is achieving efficient electro- or photo-driven water oxidation catalysis, a necessary process to supply the protons for the reduction reactions, thereby enabling solar fuel production. To facilitate efficient water (photo)electrolysis for solar fuel production, this thesis focuses on two aspects: 1) elucidating the O-O bond formation mechanism and developing efficient, stable, and economical water oxidation catalysts (WOCs); 2) exploring stable, low-cost, light-absorbing photoanode materials that have suitable band structures and excellent charge diffusion properties. 3. 8. Novel Syntheses, Structures and Functions of Mesoporous Silica Materials

    Author : Rambabu Atluri; Alfonso E Garcia-Bennett; Maria Strömme; Paul Wright; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materialvetenskap; Materials Science;

    Abstract : The field of mesoporous silica has been studied for about 20 years but it is still an area attracting a lot of attention. The use of novel templating molecules and several issues related to the synthesis and fine structural details are still poorly understood. READ MORE

  4. 9. Oxidation, Creep and Fatigue Synergies in Cast Materials for Exhaust Manifolds

    Author : Shengmei Xiang; Joakim Odqvist; Baohua Zhu; Stefan Jonsson; Johan Ahlström; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fatigue; low-cycle fatigue; fatigue in an inert atmosphere; fatigue in a synthetic diesel exhaust atmosphere; corrosion-fatigue; creep-fatigue; high-temperature corrosion; high-temperature fatigue; synergistic effect; corrosion-fatigue synergy; creep-fatigue synergy; high-temperature alloys; fatigue damage; creep-fatigue damage; corrosion-fatigue damage; ductile cast iron; high-alloyed austenitic cast steel; thermal cycling; precipitation; aging.; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : The future development of engines of heavy-duty vehicles towards reduced CO2 emission will increase the exhaust gas temperature and render the exhaust atmosphere more corrosive. The current service material of exhaust gas components - a ferritic ductile cast iron called SiMo51 - will soon meet its upper-temperature limit. READ MORE

  5. 10. Quantum chemical studies of deposition and catalytic surface reactions

    Author : Emil Kalered; Lars Ojamäe; Henrik Pedersen; Per-Olov Käll; Karin Larsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Quantum chemical calculations have been used to model chemical reactions in epitaxial growth of silicon carbide by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) processes and to study heterogeneous catalytic reactions for methanol synthesis. CVD is a common method to produce high-quality materials and e.g. READ MORE
