  1. 11. DIFFUSION OF IONS IN WOOD

    Author : Reddysuresh Kolavali; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; lithium chloride; impregnation; diffusion; Norway spruce; local concentration profiles; experimental methodology; micro-cracks; wood; Donnan effect;

    Abstract : Wood sourced from well managed plantations or forests, is a renewable material with many advantages over non-renewable (fossil) material, and also wood lignocelluloses are the only type of biomass that is a seasonal-independent product. In addition to direct utilization as a building material, major uses of wood are currently for making pulp and paper products, and fuel. READ MORE

  2. 12. NMR diffusion studies on lyotropic liquid crystalline systems

    Author : Greger Orädd; Frank Volke; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Diffusion; pulsed field gradient; liquid crystalline systems; lipid lateral diffusion; cubic phases; peptide-lipid interactions; hydrophobic mismatch; permeability;

    Abstract : The pulsed field gradient fourier transform nuclear magnetic resonance (PFG-FTNMR) method to measure translational diffusion coefficients in multicomponent systems has been applied to amphiphilic molecules forming liquid crystalline phases.By analyzing the concentration dependence of the diffusion coefficients of water and amphiphile in a micellar system of N,N-dimethyldodecy lamine oxide (DDAO) in water it was possible to conclude that the micelles formed were polydisperse in size and shape. 3. 13. Conceptual and empirical issues of technological change in the health care sector : Innovation and diffusion of hemodialysis and renal transplantation

    Author : Ann Bonair; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Medical technology; innovation; diffusion; determinants of diffusion; ESRD treatment; ESRD costs; regional variations; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN;

    Abstract : The present study focuses on one instance of technological change in medical practice; the innovation and diffusion of hemodialysis and renal transplantation (ESRD treatment)- two therapeutic innovations aimed at the treatment of patients suffering from chronic renal failure. The purpose of the thesis is to study the processes by which medical technology is developed imd disseminated. READ MORE

  4. 14. Computational Diffusion MRI: Optimal Gradient Encoding Schemes

    Author : Mohammad Alipoor; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Gradient Encoding Scheme; ADC imaging; Diffusion MRI; D-optimal experiment design; Diffusion Tensor Imaging; Optimal Image acquisition; Second and Fourth Order Tensors.; Diffusion Kurtosis Imaging;

    Abstract : Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (dMRI) is a non-invasivestructural imaging technique that provides information about tissue microstructures.Quantitative measures derived from dMRI reflect pathologicaland developmental changes in living tissues such as human brain. 5. 15. Diffusion MRI of Small Ischemic Brain Lesions: Technical aspects, clinical experiences and diagnostic criteria

    Author : Bo Geijer; Lund Diagnostisk radiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiology; Clinical physics; Metastasis; ADC; b; Infarct; MRI; Ischemia; Diffusion-Weighted; Diffusion; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering;

    Abstract : Purpose: To compare the visualization of small ischemic brain lesions using diffusion using diffusion-weighted (DW) MRI and conventional imaging, with special regard to diagnostic efficiency. Imaging features of lesions of different ages, diagnostic limitations and technical principles were also investigated. READ MORE
