1. Influence of Internal Diffusional Limitations on the Performance of an Immobilized Enzyme in Organic Medium
Abstract : The influence of mass-transfer limitations on the performance of immobilized a-chymotrypsin operating in acetonitrile medium has been investigated. The enzyme was immobilized by deposition on various porous carrier materials such as celite, polyamides of different particle sizes, controlled-pore glasses, polypropylene or polyacrylamides. 2. Simulation of diffusional processes in alloys : techniques and applications
Abstract : This thesis concerns computer simulation of diffusional processes in alloys. The main focus is on the development of simulation techniques for diffusion in single-phase domains, but also diffusion controlled phase-transformations and interfacial processes are discussed. READ MORE

3. Multicomponent diffusional reactions in tool steels : Experiment and Theory
Abstract : Many phenomena determining the microstructure of a tool steel and consequently the properties of the material, are governed by multicomponent diffusion. The diffusion driven reactions that take place during, for example, tempering of a hot-work tool steel or when the microstructure develops during hot isostatic pressing of cold-work tool steel, are dependent on the types and amounts of alloying elements. 4. Interrogating Diffusional Mass and Charge Transport in Catalytic Metal-Organic Frameworks
Abstract : Molecular catalysts are efficient and selective for the electrochemical conversion of small molecules for energy conversion. Application of molecular species in a large-scale industrial setting requires stabilization in a heterogeneous support material. READ MORE

5. Neutron spectroscopy studies of vibrational and diffusional dynamics in organometal halide and oxyhydride perovskites
Abstract : This thesis deals with inelastic and quasielastic neutron scattering studies on the dynamical properties of the organometal halide perovskite system MA1-xFAxPbI3 (MA = methylammonium; FA = formamidinium) and of the layered perovskite-type oxyhydride SrVO2H. These materials systems are of high interest for their excellent photovoltaic performance (MA1-xFAxPbI3) and hydride-ion conductivity (SrVO2H) and concomitant promise for various technological devices; however, the local structure and dynamics underpinning these materials properties remain unclear.
