  1. 1. Craniofacial Height in Relation to Alveolar Bone Morphology

    Author : Anna Klinge; Irena Sailer; Malmö universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : There is a constant development towards a more aesthetically oriented dentistry. New techniques and new materials are introduced to improve and optimise treatment results and shorten treatment time. This development can be favourable for both the dentist and the patient. READ MORE

  2. 2. Studies on the use of digital radiography for the assessment of periapical bone lesions

    Author : Boel Kullendorff; Helsingborg Kliniska Vetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; subtraction radiography; image processing; Digital radiography; dental radiography; Odontology; stomatology; Odontologi;

    Abstract : The aim was to study digital radiography and to evaluate the influence of image processing on digital dental radiographs for the assessment of periapical lesions. In four studies, artificial bone lesions were made periapically and interradicularly in the mandibular premolar and molar regions. READ MORE

  3. 3. Maxillofacial cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) : aspetcs on optimisation

    Author : Ayman Al-Okshi; Malmö högskola; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CBCT; OPTIMISATION; DOSAGE;

    Abstract : Inom odontologisk såväl som inom medicinsk radiologi sker en snabb utveckling av nya tekniker. Nya metoder för att kunna diagnosticera och följa sjukdomsförlopp över tid introduceras. Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) är en sådan ny teknik, som introducerades inom odontologin under sent 1990-tal. READ MORE

  4. 4. Cleft Size and Maxillary Arch Dimensions in Unilateral Cleft Lip and Palate and Cleft Palate

    Author : Erika Reiser; Anna Andlin-Sobocki; Valdemar Skoog; Bengt Gerdin; Arja Heliövaara; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Unilateral cleft lip and palate; cleft palate; cleft size; maxillary arch dimensions; crossbite; facial growth; nasal function; Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery; Käkkirurgi;

    Abstract : The wide variation in infant maxillary morphology and cleft size of children with unilateral cleft lip and palate (UCLP) and isolated cleft palate (CP) raise concerns about their possible influences on treatment outcome. The studies in this thesis aimed to investigate the relation between cleft size in infancy and crossbite at 5 years of age (Paper I); the impact of primary surgery on cleft size and maxillary arch dimensions from infancy to 5 years of age (Paper II); associations between cleft size, maxillary arch dimensions and facial growth in both UCLP and CP children (Paper III); and, to evaluate the relation between infant cleft size and nasal airway size and function in adults treated for UCLP (Paper IV). 5. 5. On the use of radiography and radiation dose consideration in orthodontic treatment

    Author : Christina Stervik; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; effective dose; errors; estimated risk; intra-oral radiograph; organ dose; orthodontic treatment; orthodontists; panoramic image; questionnaires; radiation doses;

    Abstract : The aims of this thesis were to analyse the use of radiography and radiation risk associated with orthodontic treatment. Study I measured absorbed doses to radiosensitive organs in the head and neck in an anthropomorphic phantom head using thermo¬luminescent dosimeters (TLDs) from digital intra-oral and panoramic radiography.
