  1. 1. The influence of Diluents and Side Groups of the Ligands on Liquid-Liquid Extraction of Actinides and Lanthanides

    Author : Teodora Retegan Vollmer; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Am; side group; radionuclides; liquid-liquid extraction; Eu; irradiation; diluents.;

    Abstract : Fossil fuels are no longer a choice for energy production, both because of their diminishing availability and the bi-products of their combustion processes. A possibility to replace the fossil fuels would be utilization of nuclear power. No green-house gases are produced, but as any industry, it generates wastes. READ MORE

  2. 2. Investigations of Solvent Systems Based on bis-triazine-bipyridine (BTBP) - class Ligands for the Separation of Actinides from Lanthanides

    Author : Teodora Retegan Vollmer; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; lanthanides; diluents; BTBP; solvent extraction; side groups; complexes; actinides;

    Abstract : Shortages of fossil fuel and other political movements contributed to the nuclear energy “renaissance”.Nuclear energy, however, is not free of challenges, one of them being nuclear waste management. READ MORE

  3. 3. Fatty acid methyl esters as reactive diluents in solvent-borne thermally cured coil-coatings

    Author : Katarina Johansson; Mats Johansson; Mats Jonsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fatty acids; Reactive diluents; Coatings; Thermal curing; Transesterification; Film properties; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Abstract : This work describes how a fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) derived from a vegetable oil can be introduced as reactive diluent in a solvent-borne thermally cured coil-coating system. The evaluated reactive diluent, rape seed methyl ester (RME), has been evaluated both in a fully formulated clear coat system and via model studies. READ MORE

  4. 4. Thermally cured coil-coatings utilizing novel resins and fatty acid methyl esters as reactive diluents

    Author : Katarina Johansson; Mats Johansson; Rolf van Benthem; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Coatings; Coil-coatings; Thermal cure; Reactive diluents; Fatty acids; Transesterification; Hyperbranched polyester resins; Film properties; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Abstract : Solvent-borne thermally cured coil-coating resins contain large amounts of volatile organic solvents in order to obtain suitable flow for film application. This work describes how the expensive and environmental hazardous volatile organic solvent content of a solvent-borne thermally cured polyester/melamine coil-coating system can be reduced by introduction of fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) as reactive diluents and modification of the polyester binder resin. 5. 5. Impacts of alternative combustion diluents and hydrogen addition on a swirl-stabilized flame related to gas turbine application

    Author : Mao Li; Kraftverksteknik; []
    Keywords : lean premixed combustion; Swirl-stabilized flame; Gas turbine combustion; Flame dilution; H2 addition; Lean blowout; CO emission; PVC; CH chemiluminescence; Inverse Abel transform; PIV; POD;

    Abstract : The global energy tendency leads to increasing attention on clean combustion technologies in order to eliminate adverse impacts on the environment. The utilization of oxyfuel combustion (CO2 acts as the only combustion dilution), flame diluents, and hydrogen fuel in gas turbine combustion provides a promising solution to reduce combustion pollutant emissions.
