  1. 1. Assessment of Telematic Systems for Road Freight Transport

    Author : Gideon Mbiydzenyuy; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURAL SCIENCES; Transportation; telematics; architectures; analysis; optimization; clustering; net present value;

    Abstract : The focus of this thesis is the assessment of telematic systems for road freight transport from a planning perspective. The aim is to support strategic decisions related to architectural choices for such systems, with the possibility to achieve synergies by supporting multiple telematic services. READ MORE

  2. 2. Homogenization of Some Selected Elliptic and Parabolic Problems Employing Suitable Generalized Modes of Two-Scale Convergence

    Author : Jens Persson; Anders Holmbom; Liselott Flodén; Marianne Lindberg; Mårten Gulliksson; Peter Wall; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; H-convergence; G-convergence; homogenization; multiscale analysis; two-scale convergence; multiscale convergence; elliptic partial differential equations; parabolic partial differential equations; monotone operators; heterogeneous media; non-periodic media; Mathematical analysis; Analys;

    Abstract : The present thesis is devoted to the homogenization of certain elliptic and parabolic partial differential equations by means of appropriate generalizations of the notion of two-scale convergence. Since homogenization is defined in terms of H-convergence, we desire to find the H-limits of sequences of periodic monotone parabolic operators with two spatial scales and an arbitrary number of temporal scales and the H-limits of sequences of two-dimensional possibly non-periodic linear elliptic operators by utilizing the theories for evolution-multiscale convergence and λ-scale convergence, respectively, which are generalizations of the classical two-scale convergence mode and custom-made to treat homogenization problems of the prescribed kinds. 3. 3. Movement strategies and dynamic knee control after anterior cruciate ligament injury : a three-dimensional biomechanical analysis

    Author : Jonas L. Markström; Charlotte K. Häger; Eva Tengman; Helena Grip; Lina Schelin; Jim Richards; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anterior cruciate ligament; biomechanics; kinematics; kinetics; finite helical axis; injury prevention; sports; reliability; agreement; one-leg hops; functional data analysis; physiotherapy; fysioterapi;

    Abstract : Background: Rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is common and mainly occurs in non-contact situations in sports, often due to momentarily poor movement control. Assessment of movement quality during sport-like tasks iscrucial to understand how to decrease the high risk of reinjury for ACL-injured persons, but also how to prevent primary injury. READ MORE

  4. 4. Swedish Dimensional Adjectives

    Author : Anna Vogel; Staffan Hellberg; Lena Ekberg; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; dimensional adjectives; semantics; cognitive linguistics; Swedish; spatial; antonymy; prototype theory; polysemy; corpus-based; elicitation test; Languages and linguistics; Språkvetenskap;

    Abstract : The purpose of this study is to give a thorough and detailed account and analysis of the semantics of twelve Swedish dimensional adjectives: hög ’high/tall’, låg ’low’, bred ’broad/wide’, smal ’narrow’ vid ’broad’, trång ’narrow’, tjock ’thick’, tunn ’thin’, djup ’deep’, grund ’narrow’, lång ’long’ and kort ’short’. Focus has been placed on their spatial, non-metaphorical sense. READ MORE

  5. 5. Advanced Spectral Analysis with Applications

    Author : Niclas Sandgren; Peter Stoica; Thomas L. Marzetta; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; frequency-selective spectral analysis; damped sinusoidal model; prior knowledge; multichannel spectroscopy; phantom experimental data; in-vivo in-vitro data analysis; area-selective analysis; cepstrum thresholding; total-variance reduction; two-dimensional spectral estimation; spectral smoothing; irregular sampling; CARMA signals; Signal processing; Signalbehandling;

    Abstract : Spectral analysis has advanced the last decades as a signal processing tool to extract significant information about certain properties of measured data. The practical use of spectral analysis techniques in time-series analysis has been emphasized in the immense amount of previous literature in the field and by a rapidly growing number of applications.
