  1. 1. Brake Judder

    Author : Helena Jakobsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Brake judder is a braking induced, forced vibration occurring in different types of vehicles. The frequency can be as high as 500 Hz, but usually remains below 100 Hz and often as low as 10-20 Hz. The driver experiences judder as vibrations in the steering wheel, brake pedal and floor. 2. 2. Simulation of Thermal Stresses in a Brake Disc

    Author : Asim Rashid; Niclas Strömberg; Tore Vernersson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : In this thesis thermal stresses in a brake disc during a braking operation are simulated. The simulations are performed by using a sequential approach where the temperature history generated during a frictional heat analysis is used as an input for the stress analysis. READ MORE

  3. 3. On improvement of cast iron brake discs for heavy vehicles

    Author : Gael le Gigan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; brake disc; cast iron; hot spots; cracking; elevated temperatures; material modelling; finite element analysis; drag braking; material testing; rig experiment; fatigue assessment;

    Abstract : Disc brakes are commonly used in motorcycles, passenger cars, commercial vehicles, heavy-duty vehicles, passenger trains and landing gears of airplanes. Depending on the application, a wide variety of brake discs have been developed, with a multitude of designs, geometries and materials. READ MORE

  5. 5. Laboratory measurements of airborne emissions from car brakes for clean air

    Author : Guido Perricone; Ulf Olofsson; Fulvio Amato; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Automotive brake; non-exhaust emissions; inertia brake dynamometer; airborne particles; PM10; PN; isokinetic sampling; Rebrake; volatiles; real driving cycle; car brake emission factors; running-in.; Bilbroms; icke-avgasemissioner; skivbromsdynamometer; luftburna partiklar; PM10; PN; isokinetisk provtagning; Rebrake; volatiler; verkliga körcykler; emissionsfaktorer; in-körning.; Machine Design; Maskinkonstruktion;

    Abstract : Brake systems are used to safely stop vehicles. The brake pads are pressed against the brake disc, transforming the kinetic energy of the vehicle into heat to be dissipated. READ MORE
