  1. 1. Numerical Simulations of Long Spark and Lightning Attachment

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Liliana Arevalo; Uppsala universitet.; [2011]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; breakdown; discharge; leader channel; lightning attachment; negative discharge; positive discharge; streamer; TECHNOLOGY Electrical engineering; electronics and photonics Electrical engineering; TEKNIKVETENSKAP Elektroteknik; elektronik och fotonik Elektroteknik; Engineering Science with specialization in Atmospheric Discharges; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot atmosfäriska urladdningar;

    Abstract : The research work presented here is concerned with numerical simulations of two different electrical phenomena: Long gap electrical discharges under switching impulses and the lightning attachment process associated with positive upward leaders. The development of positive upward leaders and the progression of discharges in long gaps are attributable to two intertwined physical phenomena, namely, the leader channel and the streamer zone. 2. 2. Robust Water Balance Modeling with Uncertain Discharge and Precipitation Data Computational Geometry as a New Tool

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : José-Luis Guerrero; Uppsala universitet.; [2013]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Alpha shape; Convex hull; Depth function; Discharge; Hydrological models; Honduras; Model calibration; Parameter-value estimation; Precipitation; Rating curve; Robust; Robustness; Uncertainty estimation; Water resources.; Alfaform; avbördningskurva; djupfunktion; Honduras; hydrologiska modeller; konvext hölje; modellkalibrering; nederbörd; osäkerhetsskattning; parametervärdesskattning; robust; robusthet; vattenföring; vattenresurser; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Abstract : Models are important tools for understanding the hydrological processes that govern water transport in the landscape and for prediction at times and places where no observations are available. The degree of trust placed on models, however, should not exceed the quality of the data they are fed with. READ MORE

  3. 3. Implementing video conferencing in discharge planning sessions leadership and organizational culture when designing IT support for everyday work in nursing practice

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis has been to study the implementation process concerning the use of video conferencing in discharge planning, during and after a development project in a region in southeast Sweden. The research approach has been developed within a new interdisciplinary research area, Applied Health Technology. READ MORE

  4. 4. Hydrological Transport in Shallow Catchments: tracer discharge, travel time and water age

    University dissertation from KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Sofie Safeyeh Soltani; KTH.; [2017]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydrological transport; travel time; water age; tracer discharge; Lagrangian pathway approach; pathway lengths; numerical modeling; Mark- och vattenteknik; Land and Water Resources Engineering;

    Abstract : This focuses on hydrological transport in shallow catchments with topography-driven flow paths. The thesis gives new insight to kinematic pathway models for estimation of tracer discharge at the catchment outlet. READ MORE

  5. 5. Electrical Characterization of Partial Discharge Resistant Enamel Insulation

    University dissertation from KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Tuan Anh Hoang; [2014]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Enamel wire insulation; dipolar polarization; charge injection; charge transport; chromium oxide; dc conductivity; partial discharge; twisted pair.; dielectric permittivity;

    Abstract : Adjustable speed drives for rotating machines have become increasingly popular as they provide possibilities of smooth and accurate process control as well as for energy savings. In such systems, due to the fact that the voltage applied at terminals of motor windings is no longer purely sinusoidal but characterized by a high content of harmonics, the appearing electrical and thermal stresses yield premature failures of the winding insulation, mainly because of an increased partial discharge (PD) activity.
