  1. 1. Discrete Scale-Space Theory and the Scale-Space Primal Sketch

    Author : Tony Lindeberg; Jan-Olof Eklundh; Jan. J Koenderink; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computer vision; low-level processing; scale-space; diffusion; Gaussian filtering; discrete smoothing; primal sketch; segmentation; descriptive elements; scale detection; image structure; focus-of-attention; tuning low-level processing; blob detection; edge detection; edge focusing; histogram analysis; junction classification; perceptual grouping; texture analysis; critical points; classification of blob events; bifurcations; drift velocity; density of local extrema; multi-scale representation; digital signal processing; Computer Science; Datalogi;

    Abstract : This thesis, within the subfield of computer science known as computer vision, deals with the use of scale-space analysis in early low-level processing of visual information. The main contributions comprise the following five subjects:The formulation of a scale-space theory for discrete signals. READ MORE

  2. 2. Discrete Stochastic Time-Frequency Analysis and Cepstrum Estimation

    Author : Johan Sandberg; Matematisk statistik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ambiguity domain; time-frequency analysis; time-frequency representations; covariance function; non-stationary random processes; Speaker recognition; MFCC; cepstrum;

    Abstract : The theory of stochastic time-frequency analysis of non-stationary random processes has mostly been developed for processes in continuous time. In practice however, random processes are observed, processed, and interpreted at a finite set of time points. READ MORE

  3. 3. Adjoint-based aerodynamic shape optimization

    Author : Olivier Amoignon; Martin Berggren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Numerical Analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Abstract : An adjoint system of the Euler equations of gas dynamics is derived in order to solve aerodynamic shape optimization problems with gradient-based methods. The derivation is based on the fully discrete flow model and involves differentiation and transposition of the system of equations obtained by an unstructured and node-centered finite-volume discretization. 4. 4. Invariancy Methods for Points, Curves and Surfaces in Computational Vision

    Author : Karl Åström; Matematik LTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; curved surface; space curve; planar curve; laser guided vehicles; AGV; autonomous guided vehicles; recognition; reconstruction; image sequence; multiple view geometry; affine; invariant; projective; Mathematics; Matematik;

    Abstract : Many issues in computational vision can be understood from the interplay between camera geometry and the structure of images and objects. Typically, the image structure is available and the goal is to reconstruct object structure and camera geometry. This is often difficult due to the complex interdependence between these three entities. READ MORE

  5. 5. Empirical Studies in Corporate Finance, Taxation and Investment

    Author : Joakim Jansson; Otto Toivanen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Economics; Nationalekonomi; Economics; Nationalekonomi; nationalekonomi; Economics;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of four self-contained essays. Essay 1 extends previous research focusing on firms' discrete external financing decision by adapting an estimation procedure accommodating both fixed effects and a lagged dependent variable. This makes it possible to establish the nature of the dependence. READ MORE
