  1. 21. Algorithms and Representations for Personalised Information Access

    Author : Rickard Cöster; Lars Asker; Haym Hirsh; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Abstract : Personalised information access systems use historical feedback data, such as implicit and explicit ratings for textual documents and other items, to better locate the right or relevant information for individual users.Three topics in personalised information access are addressed: learning from relevance feedback and document categorisation by the use of concept-based text representations, the need for scalable and accurate algorithms for collaborative filtering, and the integration of textual and collaborative information access. 2. 22. Essays on Nonlinearities and Time Scales in Macroeconomics and Finance

    Author : Kristofer Månsson; Börje Johansson; Peter Egger; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of four chapters concerning the topics of nonlinearities and time scales in economics. The focus is on market frictions and price rigidities that may cause nonlinearities and different relationships between economic variables over time. It also focuses on applying robust econometrical methods. READ MORE

  3. 23. Studies in the Dynamics of Science : Exploring emergence, classification, and interdisciplinarity

    Author : Qi Wang; Ulf Sandström; Martin Meyer; KTH; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; science dynamics; bibliometrics; emerging research topics; interdisciplinary research; journal classification systems; cognitive distance; research policy;

    Abstract : The dynamic nature of science is embodied in the growth of knowledge in magnitude and the transformation of knowledge in structure. More specifically, the growth in magnitude is indicated by a sharp increase in the number of scientific publications in recent decades. READ MORE

  4. 24. Aspects of Hadron Production in High-Energy Heavy-Ion Physics

    Author : David Silvermyr; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; RHIC; pad readout; electronic; chip-on-board; tracking; heavy-ion collisions; freeze-out temperature; delta resonance; SPS; WA98; PHENIX; Fysik; coherent peripheral; multiplicity; Physics; Fysicumarkivet A:2001:Silvermyr;

    Abstract : High-energy heavy-ion collisions provide a unique tool for the study of nuclear matter as a function of temperature and density. WA98 at the CERN SPS recorded data with a 158 A GeV Pb beam on a Pb target in 1996. To cope with the high charged-particle density, a tracking system based on high granularity multi-step avalanche detectors was developed. READ MORE

  5. 25. Communication Patterns in Consultations Between Patients with Atrial Fibrillation and Health Professionals

    Author : Eleni Siouta; Anders Broström; Bjöörn Fossum; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : Atrial fibrillation; communication; consultation; dominance; patient participation; resistance interaction; shared decision-making; warfarin;

    Abstract : Background Patients’ preferences, needs and desires are important when discussing treatment. In consultations between patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and health professionals, knowledge, understanding and insight about communication patterns are of vital importance for strengthening patient involvement in decision-making about their care and treatment.
