1. Drug Dissolution under Physiologically Relevant Conditions In Vitro and In Vivo
Abstract : The general aim of the present project was to increase the understanding of the in vivo dissolution of poorly soluble drugs and thereby improve possibility to predict in vivo solubility from substance properties. Increased understanding of the in vivo limitations of drug solubility could potentially also generate ideas for improved formulation principles for poorly soluble compounds and more relevant in vitro dissolution test methods used in formulation development. 2. Low Molecular Weight Organic Acids and Their Aluminium Complexes in Forest Soils
Abstract : The significance of low molecular weight (LMW) organic acids and their aluminium (Al) complexes in soil solutions of podzolized soils was examined. Methods for the analysis of these compounds and complexes were developed, and the impact of these substances on the weathering and podzolization processes was studied. READ MORE

3. Capillary electroseparations in pharmaceutical analysis of basic drugs and related substances
Abstract : Capillary electroseparation methods are exciting new techniques with very broad application areas and vast potential in pharmaceutical and biomedical analysis. To improve the limit of detection (LOD) capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) has been combined with isotachophoretic (ITP) preconcentration in a single capillary. READ MORE

4. Neurobiological aspects of human aging and suicide
Abstract : This thesis addresses: 1) The involvement of the monoaminergic and neuropeptidergic neurotransmitter systems in the aging process, and 2) The contribution of these systems in the etiology of an age-related mental disorder: the depressive syndrome. Because of the evidence suggesting the efficacy of the SSRI in the treatment of some age-related symptoms, a comparison study of the binding characteristics of two SSRI, i. READ MORE

5. Human milk factors and atopy in early childhood
Abstract : Background: The protective effect of breast milk against atopic manifestations in infancy, i. e. atopic eczema and food allergy, has been controversial for the last decades. Differences in the composition of human milk could explain these controversies. READ MORE
