  1. 16. Modelling and Lagrangian control of mixed traffic: platoon coordination, congestion dissipation and state reconstruction

    Author : Mladen Čičić; Karl Henrik Johansson; Miroslav Krstić; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; traffic control; Lagrangian control; mixed traffic models; Intelligent Transportation Systems; Connected and Automated Vehicles; traffic congestion; platoon coordination; moving bottlenecks; bottleneck decongestion; stop-and-go wave dissipation; traffic state reconstruction; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : Traffic congestion is a constantly growing problem, with a wide array of negative effects on the society, from wasted time and productivity to elevated air pollution and reduction of safety. The introduction of connected, autonomous vehicles enables a new, Lagrangian paradigm for sensing andcontrolling the traffic, by directly using connected vehicles inside the traffic flow, as opposed to the classical, Eulerian paradigm, which relies on stationary equipment on the road. 3. 18. Characterization of Nanomaterials for Interconnect and Thermal Management in Electronic Packaging

    Author : Si Chen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; heat dissipation; electronic packaging; nanomaterial; characterization; thermal interface material; solder; thermoelectric.; interconnect; through silicon via;

    Abstract : Electronic packaging, protecting the fragile chip from atmosphere and providing the paths for signal transmission as well as heat dissipation, is one of the most important parts in electronic devices. The cost, dimensions, performance, and reliability of an electronic device therefore strongly depend on its packaging structures and materials. READ MORE

  4. 19. Techniques to Reduce Energy Dissipation in Level-1 Data Caches

    Author : Alen Bardizbanyan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : The number of battery powered devices is growing significantly and these devices require energy-efficient hardware to operate for a useful period of time. Also, the future of the performance scaling in processors depends on the energy efficiency as the increasing number of cores on a single chip does not leave room for inefficient microarchitectures. 5. 20. Hybrid Methods for Unsteady Fluid Flow Problems in Complex Geometries

    Author : Jing Gong; Jan Nordström; Gunilla Efraimsson; Mark H. Carpenter; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hybrid methods; finite difference methods; finite volume methods; coupling procedure; stability; efficiency; artificial dissipation; Numerical analysis; Numerisk analys; Scientific Computing; Beräkningsvetenskap; Beräkningsvetenskap med inriktning mot numerisk analys;

    Abstract : In this thesis, stable and efficient hybrid methods which combine high order finite difference methods and unstructured finite volume methods for time-dependent initial boundary value problems have been developed. The hybrid methods make it possible to combine the efficiency of the finite difference method and the flexibility of the finite volume method. READ MORE
